Does anyone know anything about busking in Charleston?

If I was going to busk in Charleston SC I would attempt to do so at "The Battery" park or at the "The Waterfront Park". If memory serves me correctly, you can also fish at the Waterfront Park which has a small tourist shopping district a few blocks away that includes the historic "Slave Market" which is now something like a flea market.
There is also potential for sidewalk performances downtown if you knew the area, I'm sure there are some sweet spots. That reminds me ... "Washington Square" might also be a good spot, a good lunch crowd there and it is right next to some city building with public bathrooms and water fountains. As for the actual laws ... I don't know what they are. If I were to go, I'd pack small and play big - no tables or boxes or anything like that ... I'd want to be able to just walk away if I had to. After I did it a few times, I'd consider bringing a table ... once the natives were familiar with me. -JoeJoe

Thank you Joe Joe,
I'll let you know how it goes. Most likely in November. Nickoli |

Eager to hear your report.
By the way, when I said you could fish at the Waterfront ... you would be legally required to have a fishing license; wanted to point that out so you don't get yourself in trouble. I know most people think of getting food they think get money for store, but my mind is wired just a little differently -JoeJoe

I do not have the experience that JoeJoe does, but I have found that having a small table with a printed and laminated sign gives me a sense of legitimacy in strange places.

Sorry I never followed up on this.
Charleston is a workable pitch. Down at battery park would be the best and chance of getting a large crowd. While I was there the crowds were down so I did table shows near the market. Never had a problem and hats were OK. Nickoli |

Thanks Nickoli. I’m not a performer but want to support any who are performing when I visit the area.
