Old roommate had a pretty good collection of Ellusionist and T11 videos, among others, and I'm trying to figure out where this was so I don't have to spend the money to duplicate his entire collection to find it. I think it was Brad Christian performing, so I'm leaning toward one of the Ellusionist collections, but I could easily be wrong about that. (Unfortunately, I've lost track of the roommate over the last ~5 years.) I can still get the effect, but there's something missing from my performance, so I'm really missing that video.
I think the name was just "Prediction," which is about as useful as "card trick" when it comes to searching. Uses a R/B DB as the only gaff. Basic effect: performer lays out a single card as a prediction, and pulls out a deck of opposite color for the effect. Spectator chooses and signs a card, then returns it to the deck. After some shuffling, the magician openly peeks the prediction, then shows it to be not only correct, but the actual signed card. Don't recall if these variations were included or if we worked them up: Forced card retains "odd" color back, or choice may be completely free, but need an excuse for the card to return to its original color to end mostly clean. Incorrect prediction corrected via any color change to signed card, and all cards shown to be the deck's original color. |

You can find it in one of the five DVDs of Mnemonica Miracles by Juan Tamariz.
So much to do, so little time . . .

Sankey's The Red Prediction immediately came to mind as well. Though not exactly the same, the prediction card is an odd back and says "prediction" on it. The climax is that the signed selection ends up being the odd prediction card.

(Or maybe Jay took a few Valium before filming and I didn't recognize his usual...excess of energy.) Is it from one of the collections? I know I bought at least one a few years ago, so maybe I just need to dig around in storage a bit. |

It's in Sankey Pankey. He might have released the trick under a different name since then, but I'm not sure.
