Can you tell me what is the difference between Vectra 1 and Vectra X2? I have Vectra 1 and Vectra X2 is on its way. Is it double thickness?

Good question, Lou...I'd like the answer to that as well. Ya know, I just might spring for X-1. I have enough Woolly to last a lifetime, but hey...why not? I'll get some Vectra X-1 and try it out.
X2 is very strong, made for stage. You could use it for close-up...it's that invisible. Of course, with the right lighting, that is. I am assured the Vectra Line is unique. Not Kevlar or any other similar material. I'm thinkin'...you might find the Big Boys using X2 Stage from now on. I see how multiple strands of this line could be used in much bigger levitations. If you know how Copperfield's "Flying" is set up, something on a smaller scale would work brilliantly! I you know the hook-up used by Lance Burton (Floating Bird Cage), X2 would be perfect! The Sulky "Smoke" can KILL a performace if it "lights up". Some angles are just impossible to cover. Even if you Zebra-stripe the stuff, it's not foolproof. X2 would solve that problem. Even a double line would be good. Not sure, Lou, if it's "double thickness", or a different material altogether. To look at it, it's thicker than Woolly, but even in sunlight, it's almost impossible to see, unless you get the angle right. As far as strength, it is definitely not Dancing Cane material. Ekuth is right. Sulky "Smoke" is best for that, and really...the only other stage line I know of. Unless you go Old School and use brown carpet thread and red gels in the lights. Doug |

Thanks for your answer Doug. Right now, I use Vectra X1 for my purpose BUT I have doubled it for strength. I can't wait to get my hands on the Vectra X2 and see if this works for me.

Well, I set it up in my front room, and it does flash. Even under tension. Nothing like Sulky "Smoke", though. The lighting cannot be direct. Two side lights at a 45 degree angle seems to be best. That seems to cover all angles. I still have further testing to do.

OK, update:
The type of light is critical! Flourescent light is BAD! I just found out that these are called Compact Flourescents... So...we tried regular incandescent bulbs, 60 Watt and 100 Watt. Two, one on each side (the way they'd be on side tables) of a couch. The 100 Watt bulbs inside of lampshades seems to be diffused enough to be very deceptive as close as six feet! With the 60 Watt bulbs, it's about the same. So go with the 100 Watt. And, I wouldn't push the six feet thing. That's minimum distance. A busy background helps a lot. Remember that. I'd say ten feet, short and sweet with this X2. Doug |
