Here's a story for ya!
My girlfriend and I recently were in Pittsburgh to see a favorite singer of hers. After the show, I had the opportunity to talk to the singer and eventually it came out what I did for a living. He perked up and wanted to see a trick. The rest of the band came around also. The drummer even mentioned that he grew up next door to Jon Racherbaumer in New Orleans! So we talked about magic quite a bit. I wasn't prepared at all to perform (as I rarely am when I'm not working), but I always carry Kolossal Killer in my wallet. I did a little impromptu napkin routine with bar napkins. Torn and Restored, Starcle, and a Pseudo-Sponge Ball Routine (a la Greg Wilson). Then I blew them away with Kolossal Killer. Had a great time with the band, and it made for a fun night! |

Michael,
Great story. The motto being always have something on you to perform no matter how big or small. Well done! Sounds like they were impressed. I always carry a TT, and the amount of times I have amazed people with vanishes, etc., at impromptu venues is staggering. Some people think you are performing really great feats of magic with something so simple---to us! Stories like yours are what it's all about. -Brent |

Does anyone know where I can get a card to wallet that will accomidate Killer, preferably not huge and doesn't require folding?

If you really want Killer to take up a small space, just use mini cards. My friend does this and he came up with a great line. When he's off by one, he says "small card, small mistake," then shows them the back. -Christian

Cardman 1990,
Alakazam.co.uk have designed and built a wallet especialy for a version of KK as do the Underground collective. From seeing them both the Alakazam one is the better it will take KK and other items secretly and can still be used as a wallet. although it will not do card to wallet, sorry. But if you call them up I am sure they will have something in their cupboard under the stairs. Hope this helps Glenn

I think this is a great effect always ready. I use regular cards except for the aces where I use mini cards which incidentally came out of a Christmas cracker.

Update: Paid Off Again!
Went to see this artist again, and after the concert he recognized me and invited me backstage! This time I had a deck of cards. I ended up performing for about an hour for all three national artists and their bands! Good times! |

Due to my wallet size (half size type) I started off using small cards and found the effect is stronger if you use a mini deck for a few other effects first.
Full size cards are much stronger on effect but as you say, needs a mansized wallet.

Kolossal Killer is a wonderful! I recommend that. But, you should cheak "Heirloom" also. These trick has a same principle.
This is a "Kolossal Killer" description. Spectators just NAME a playing card, and you have the correct card in your wallet. YOU ARE ALWAYS CORRECT. It is the ultimate card 'out' for Close-up work. A spectator can mess with you all they want - RELAX - you can still produce a playing card from your normal wallet, as absolute proof that you knew their card all along. Kolossal Killer has become a classic piece of mentalism as well - used by such pros as Larry Becker and Jeff McBride. It's a full-blown stage effect, with nothing but the minds of the audience and your everyday billfold. * NO Forces * NO Gaffed Wallet * NO Sleight of Hand * NO 52 Card Index (Not 26 cards either) . . . Whatever they name, you are right. Simple, direct, awe-inspiring magic and mentalism - the kind you have come to expect from Kenton Knepper.

I have a question for KK, can you show the cards faced up while the spectator chooses? Or is it solely for the cards facing down?

Its totally a free choice, it can be done without a deck, just ask them to name any card.

The great advantage of KK is that you can have it in your wallet all the time. Sooner or later the right moment will occur. Like this:
I was walking down the street with a friend, and suddenly right at our feet there was a lonely, dirty playing card face down. I was ready! "Wait a moment!" I said and picked up the card turning it over. Six of clubs! I slowly brought out my wallet and removed my six of clubs. "They finally made contact." I said and continued walking.

You can get it from Kenton at http://www.wonderwizards.com/ . I believe several dealers carry it also.
If you have trouble finding it, at wonderwizards its under Literature. Here's the link http://www.wonderwizards.com/item.php?id=18 . Also check out the "companion" booklet - "Killer Konceptions" . The link is http://www.wonderwizards.com/item.php?id=9
