So I should make my own pockets out of plastic?

wmhegbli said... "As far as dove splitting, this is not in print as the more you learn about body loads will lead how to do this type of effect" ______________________________________________________ Richard Griffin from the UK put out a couple of videos a few years ago on dove magic called A Basic Step into Dove Magic and a Further Step into Dove Magic. I managed to find these second hand recently although I have no idea as to where you would find a first hand set. He talks about the invisible harness on the second tape and included in this is the splitting the dove if anyone would like to learn it. Hope this helps, TM |

Dovemagic9, many of us make our own pockets and bags but I would suggest before attempting that, you purchase some, just to get the idea of the requirements. There are many on the market. Tony Clark, Dan Sperris, and Gen Grant for example make great pockets. The plastic that is being talked about is a liner that fits inside the pocket.

Thanks Dave, I will take your advice and stick to the satin pockets for a while.

Dovemagic9, you would still use the satin pockets, they're just lined with the plastic inserts.

Dovemagic9,
I'm sure you will enjoy learning to do dove body steals. It allows you to work the stage area much more freely. I never recommend invisible dove harnesses to some one before they have considerable experience and have worked well with the music to get the timing down. Invisible harnesses are an ideal way to break doves' feet and legs if anything goes wrong. Doves in other harnesses have their feet and legs protected during the production. You will also experience fewer "accidents" on stage. Plastic inserts help but are very hot and cut down on air available to your bird. I just don't use them. There are ways to produce the dove with no harness at all. Enjoy! Bob |

Good point Bob. If I use the plastic insert, it's for a production early in the routine just for the reason of heat as you explained. I used them more when I first got started. Now I find I don't really need them.

Ultimately we just don't need solutions to problems that we don't have. Hey Bob,
When are going to get your Dove Book finished? With your history and background it should be beneficial for all Dove Workers! Time... I know it takes time to get it the way you want it!
Be remembered for performing what looks like MAGIC, not skill.

Dovemagic9,
Richard Griffin has just set up http://www.gadgetmagic.com selling all of his products. I can highly recommend the videos (and they have the dove split on them) and also his invisible harnesses. They are fantastic. Hope this helps, TM |

I also believe that Davenports Magic sell the Richard Griffin videos.
