'A brand new variation of Wayne’s hilarious classic routine "The Sex Trick”. New gags. New Handling. Complete with cards, performance rights and PDF instructions' Is it really updated? I would be disappointed if I bought this and there was only 1 or 2 things new. |

The key ad copy line is
new variation Seems like the same type of gag, and exactly the same method, but the plot will be different (probably about texting) That's what my spidey senses pick up |

I always felt it was insensitive to the woman and now might be too much. But, you might be able to add some things to actually use that. A couple off the top of my head: Have you ever felt you were taken advantage of while doing this? Have you ever felt pressured to do this in order to advance at work or even to get work? |

Can't understand why this has been put on as it was released ages ago as the 2nd version of this.
Pretty sure there's already a thread for this. Got both versions of this & have used both verions. Mike Donoghue |

The search function here is getting worse, so when I did a search, nothing came up discussing it. Then again, doing a search on sexting doesn't even show this thread (edited to add - now it does SOMETIMES, but didn't before this comment), so maybe there is one but I didn't see one on the first couple of pages or from a search so thought it would be okay to start a thread. If anyone has a link to where this (sexting, not Exchange) is discussed, that would be great. |

Side note- searching the Café via Google rather than the built in search on Café works better 99.9% of the time. The exceptions are the restricted areas of the Café.

It went over well, including with the participant. There are many factors that go into making this NOT offensive. Unfortunately, most magicians are inept at many of those factors. |

Not being familiar with the routine, I was prepared to seriously dislike this, because I usually dislike any magic effect that incorporates sexual innuendo as cheapening of the art (ie, "So now you have two balls in your hand, hardee-har-har"). However, this one seems genuinely clever and non-offensive, and has a nice magical payoff. Should've expected as much from Mr. Dobson.

Dobson's script, as presented in the video, is based on a believable dual reality. The volunteer has no reason, other than laughter from the crowd, to suspect that your questions are about anything other than eating - which the ending in fact proves to be the case. I really appreciate that they released a full performance video despite certain knowledge that the unscrupulous could easily copy the routine without purchasing it. That alone makes me want to order two.

Right - I think I was originally trying to grab an earlier quote along the same lines, then cacked it up somehow with edits and deletions or something. Anyway, totally agree with you. It does go to show how carefully the seemingly off the cuff questions have been crafted in Dobson's script in order to make the most of the comedy without breaking the dual reality

FWIW (not much - something else I'll get wrong probably ), I like the way this plays out better than Exchange. Not sure how much I can talk about it without exposing it, but I like that there isn't a switch and word swap at the end (as opposed to Wayne's Exchange where there is a switch and SEX changes into EAT).

This is a different handling of that trick but with a different word and with no switch. Here's the trailer, but it does not reveal anything: Also, this does not appear to be widely available. Maybe it was and I missed it and now it's sold out? I don't know. Wayne Dobson's Exchange trick still seems to be widely available while I only found out about Sexting because of one of the Black Friday mailings I received where it was on sale and I decided to take a chance on it. |

Wayne's exchange 2 has been released and they are saying the cards are larger and also it cn now be done hands off. Not sure if there are significant changes from the original. If its totally hands off, perhaps worth looking into replacing my original set. Anyone had the opportunity to see the new version?

Will be great if Alakazam make also a version with blank cards so we can write our own words with sharpie (marker). On that way the effect can be present also in other languages.
