I was wondering what you guys consider to be the best place to put your coins at when not in use?

Coin cases or coin purses, even in coin wallets from coin collectors.

You can even put them in a jewelry box.

I put mine in individual cases then in a plastic storage case with individual compartments that you can get at any hardware store.

I have many places where I store my coins:
Hope this gives you an idea... P.S. I also have an old military ammo case with hundreds of miscellaneous and un-organized foreign coins, just waiting for me to re-discover.
Mediocrity is greatly under rated!

Hmmm. I have a really cool walk around bag, a fanny pack... it's a masculine fanny pack. In it, amoung other things, are all of my coins arranged into two coin wallets and two coin purses, and a silk sack full of loose halves, quarters, and nickels. One wallet and one purse are "on deck", the other set of wallet and purse are "active reserve". I set up the on deck purse and wallet before heading to work, and I make changes to the what's on deck wallet/purse throughout the evening.
BTW, I find the oils in the leather wallets really age and color the coins nicely. I used to be a meticulous collector and store all of my prizes in plastic every night, but it's such a pain to get to them when they're in display cases and plastic holders. Besides, coins (for purposes of magic) need to be exposed to the light of day and to the air to look and feel as real as possible. Best, Mike |

When I have to secretly get a coin, for example in a copper silver routine, I hide it in my belt, in my back. I only have a few coins with me, which are simply in my pocket.

I keep my coins in plastic trays with individual compartments. You can get these at any craft store for about $5 more or less. Look for them in the section where they sell beads and jewelry making supplies.

A magician friend who is also a nurse told me about the stack of plastic disc sold to hold a weeks worth of prescriptions. They screw together (and apart) and are the size of USA half dollars.
Anyone else use them? I have not gone out to purchase them. It has been a couple weeks so I can't remember how tall they are. Together they were about 12 inches high. Enjoy the journey. Harris Deutsch Laughologist

All over the place here. A pile by my chair, more on the shelf, more in containers and bags in a box for other stuff. Even more in the coinpurse and its duplicate where I carry the half dollars and some gaffs. And more on the way...
...to all the coins I've dropped here

A couple years I had a LARGE collection of my magic coins, half dollars, Eisenhour Dollars, English Pennies, gimmicked coins, etc. stolen from the desk in my home. So NOW, I carry them with me wherever I go, either in my pockets, or in my close-up bag.
The difficult must become easy, the easy beautiful and the beautiful magical.

I use pocket organizers. I have several organizers pre-set for specific acts/shows/venues. The individual props stay in its place in the organizer. That way I don’t spend hours looking for the props when I am getting ready to practice/rehearse or when leaving for a gig. Stick the appropriate organizer in the appropriate pocket and get on with life.
Similarly I have stand-up shows organized with all props necessary for the show. Most props are organized together for the routine they support. If the show calls for a Misers Dream, all the necessary items used in the routine are in the plastic container, along with an inventory list. It’s but a few minutes to find the labeled containers, check the inventory list, and set it in the case ready to go (old Billy McComb recommendation). I do have several hundred ungimmicked, loose or “raw”, silver dollars, half dollars, Peso’s, Old English Pennies all kept by type in small boxes and stored in larger boxes. Never know when you will need five Morgan’s, Peace, or Ike dollars. Never know when you will need several Walking Liberty, or silver Kennedy halves. I do have a small screw/nail organizer from a hardware store that I keep the odd, unused gimmick coin in. Presently it holds a couple of Karate coins, a U3F (the extra set), several expanded shells, several folding coins, and a couple of flippers. These are all back up to gimmicks now in play (and in organizers) or not currently in use.
