NEWLY NEW!
BULLSEYE MAGIC A monthly magic journal that focuses on full routines meant to inspire the entertainment side of magic. Do we really need new tricks? Well, probably yes, but how about NEW TRICKS... AND BETTER, MORE ENTERTAINING WAYS TO PERFORM THEM? ... OH YEAH! This Journal is not going to have glossy photos or fancy ads. This is just pure magic routines. Every month, three new routines and one bonus routine! OK, here's the deal: I have been in magic for over 40 years as a performer, consultant, and reviewer of magic. In my inventory of magic, I have over 5,000 effects and routines. In these years, a lot of really good ideas have come out of all this work. Because none of us know what the future might bring, I thought I should share some of these that are just too good to take to the grave. I could have released them individually for $20 or $30 each, or written a book, but I'd rather put them out in a Journal... and who knows, maybe others may want to contribute something to the journal as well. I will definitely welcome other good routines to share with the world of magic. I still have a few spots left for the introductory 100 first month free offer, but the spots are filling. As of last count, 65 of the 100 are filled. I am going to test this journal for six months to see how it goes. So, after the first free month, if you are interested in the subscription, it will be only $35 for the ENTIRE first six months. That offer won't be repeated, so jump in if you are interested. The first issue has a routine called Eleven Percent which is SO KILLER, people remember it years later! The second edition will have as a BONUS, a butterfly routine that always makes an audience gasp. I have to release this one because I spent over a year perfecting the gimmick and I really don't want to take that one to my grave. These routines have brought me and a lot of people a ton of fun over the years, and I hope you enjoy them. KJ |

Is it appropriate to post links for things we might need, such as Amazon?
I like the layout, as well as that you list credits, in case I want to look things up in my library. I'll pass on the fine fish however. Dave |

Dave,
Thanks for the suggestion. I didn't want to put links in a document that may be read in the future, but I'm happy to post the link here. In the future, I will try to post links in the email. Here are some links. BTW, that routine with the bottle is a lot of fun and people really love it. The bottles are so small that carrying it around in a walk-around or just a casual situation is not a problem. This one is the easier to use bottle: https://www.amazon.com/Luo-House-Stopper......stoppers This one is quite a bit more difficult to do the third phase, but it also looks more impossible: https://www.amazon.com/Kate-Aspen-Vintag......stoppers So, No on the fish? Come-on! Give the fish a break! They're just fish, they don't ask for much! :) KJ |

Here is another link to a small glass bottle:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00V53......F8&psc=1 Unfortunately, they don't sell them individually. However, it's not a bad idea to have some backups. I have broken a few over the years. KJ |

KJ was kind enough to send this to me. I haven't had the opportunity to read it fully, however on first glance there seems to be some very nice effects here if you are a walk around magician. He gives a indication before reading the effect as to how hard it will be to accomplish. ( in other words how much practice you'll need to put in). Although I don't bill myself as a magician, I can certainly appreciate how these effects would play really well. Well written and more importantly, the effects are well worked in. I look forward to reading more....
Robert.

Ouch! When I was around eight (before the buddy system was invented, apparently), I was snorkeling alone in the ocean. I was "chased by what seemed like a twenty foot Barracuda. It was probably only a couple feet long and it probably just swam past me, but it was the scariest thing I have ever seen in my life. I've never been bit by a fish, but I've been stung by a swarm of jellyfish. That was painful!
BTW I may be performing a version of the bottle trick at the Magic Castle this year. I may also present that version in an upcoming Bullseye Magic edition. KJ |

I am also going to present my butterfly routine at the Magic Castle and that too will be in one of the Bullseye Magic Volumes.

I was impressed. This is a serious close-up journal. And it seems the focus will include a lot of non-card magic. Always nice!
I am in on this one. Will be subscribing at the end of the month. Joe Mckay |

Thanks, Joe. I hope you enjoy the future volumes.
As I said earlier, these are things that I have been working on and performing for years. I mainly didn't want to take some of these gems to the grave. In next month's volume, I will be including my Butterfly routine in which I have over a year's worth of research on developing a gimmick that really makes the routine seem like true magic. Audiences of all ages just GASP when they see this. This too is not a card routine. There will be a mix of some card, some non-card. Mostly, it's about routines that are entertaining, for both professional workers and amateur magicians. KJ |

There are also some more casual routines. The pen routine is one that I have done casually with a group of friends, or with total strangers while waiting in line. My family and I like to go to places like Disneyland or Knott's Berry, and my daughter often challenges me to do magic for some random person waiting in line. That is where I will do portions or all of the "Musical Pen Cap" routine. kj |

Volume 2 will be going out early February. Here is what will be in it:
IN THIS ISSUE JENNINGS VS THE MONTE This is a great packet trick set with two routines cleverly hidden in one gimmicked packet trick holder. It uses a fantastic gimmicked packet trick holder that can be used to hide any cards. This set of two routines is a great example of how you can use this gimmick to perform a routine with gimmicked cards and then follow up with a routine that appears to use the same cards, but without any gimmicks. The two routines include a version of Larry Jenning’s classic Close-Up Illusion, followed by a great version of a Monte. NEW TWENTY I keep this in my wallet at all times. It involves a gimmick “fake” twenty dollar bill made of Tyvek. The fake bill turns into a real twenty dollar bill. You ask your audience if they would like for it to turn into a hundred dollar bill. It then turns into a Monopoly money one hundred dollar bill. If you like, you can hand out the monopoly bill as a souvenir. NEW MATH This is my version of the six card repeat using very funny patter. It uses a very simple gimmick that makes the routine easy to perform. Toward the end, it uses a bit of sleight of hand that makes the routine even stronger. BONUS THE BUTTERFLY ROUTINE This is a paper butterfly routine that always gets a gasp from audience members. I’m including this as a bonus because the gimmick that I spent over a year to make will require a bit of investment on your part. However, I didn’t want over a year of research to not be shared with others who might benefit from this. I am very grateful to Jeff McBride who put out a great DVD on this subject. If you don’t have it, you might want to check it out. KJ |

I'd like to "throw down" a challenge:
I will give a six month subscription FREE to one selected person who: A. Has never performed magic for a total stranger, and B. Goes out and performs magic for a total stranger, and C. Comes back to this thread to describe what you did and how it went This will be on the honor system, I don't need to see a video of it, although I would suggest you go out with a friend or family member and have them video it for your own purposes. In addition, it will give you a good "excuse" to perform for a total stranger. From everyone who chooses to participate, I will select one person to get the prize. Good luck. KJ |

If you plan on participating, let us know here in the thread. It helps motivate your commitment to do something you've wanted to do, but haven't yet.

I have a routine from the next issue of Bullseye Magic (Volume 3) that I am so excited about! To the first 50 people who send me a PM, I'll send it to you free.
Here is the description: AMBITIOUS COINS It is a routine where you have three US Quarters and one Quarter size Chinese coin. The Chinese coin goes on top of the Quarters. You ask a participant to hold their hand open and you place the coins in their hand. They close their hand and squeeze hard. They open their hand, and they squeezed the Chinese coin through the top coin! You can repeat this two more times and each time, the Chinese coin travels down one coin. This routine can be done with any four coins as long as they are the same diameter. NOTE ON CREDITS: Mario Lopez has recently put out an ambitious coin routine with a Chinese coin. I am a HUGE fan of his work, and if you haven't checked it out, you should. However, this routine uses a completely different method and the magic happens in the hands of the participant. I also think that this routine would go well with his routine as using different methods tend to cancel each other out in the mind of the participants/audience. ONE MORE NOTE: The last time I made a FREE offer, my PM box got full quickly. If you try to send me a PM and it doesn't go through, just wait a day for me to clear out my PMs and try again. The last time, it took around a week of me clearing PMs and people getting through. KJ |

Volume 3 is about to go out, but there has been a slight shift!
I have gotten SO many requests for a couple items that I do that I have decided to put them in the next Volume. If you are one of the ones that has been waiting for my Ambitious Coin routine that was scheduled to go out in Volume 3, it will go out next month. PM me with any questions, or if you just can't wait. So, Volume 3 will contain: First is a routine called "Semi Worthless Coupons". This is a routine that I do on stage, but also in a parlor and even walk-around. It is a bank-night style routine that involves money and "semi worthless coupons". It has a hilarious script and it uses some gimmicks that are very easy to use. Second, I am finally including my marked deck system and some very powerful routines. One of the strengths of the marked deck routines that I do is that they use multiple methods, not just the marked deck as a method. For example, my memory demonstration uses an amazingly versatile math "trick" method for phase one, two methods for phase two one of which is the marked deck, and by phase three which is the most powerful, the method was already done prior to the beginning of phase one. This routine is so easy to do and even easier to do because of the nature of my marked deck system. If you haven't signed up for the newsletter yet, I am limiting this to the first 100 for the first six months, but I do have a few open spots if you are interested. Cheers, KJ |
