We all know for the past decade-plus many performers are doing online and digital marketing. My interest is in how many are still doing non-online/digital advertising and marketing and what is still working for you? There have been some recent topics about yellow pages, Parents magazines, expos, and trade show events, and I'm sure some still use physical direct mailing such as postcards, letters, etc.
So what non-online/digital methods do you use that are still working for you and where are these in terms of priority for your business, results and returns? Do you feel they are being more effective because fewer performers are doing them? |

I hate to say it but the best non digital form of advertising has always been word of mouth. Do a killer show, and people will talk about it. Booking work from work sort of thing.
The hitch is obviously getting the first show.

Three things work for me: 1. New customers finding me by searching the Internet, 2. Referrals & repeat business, and 3. Me making outbound cold calls to prospects, and then meeting with them face-to-face to make a presentation. The methods I used to use (Parents Magazine, static advertising, emails, direct mail etc.) do not give me the kind of ROI I need. Last year my business volume was up significantly using the three methods I have indicated.

I still do seasonal mailings and doubt I will stop doing these anytime soon.
While I'm all for doing online stuff, I think targeted mailings can be quite effective when they're used in conjunction with your other online efforts. I've had better results with targeted mailings vs. a shotgun approach of just sending out several hundred letters to DEAR ENTERTAINMENT COMMITTEE. In the past, I've booked a number of shows through performer showcases. These past few years, though, I haven't been able to work these events due to conflicting dates. Gerry |

I merge the 2 and do cross channel..
Much of my OFFLINE marketing is designed to push them online to get them in a list. -Speaking events (join my list) - Network Meetings (Biz card for "Free Strategy Session") and so on Digital Marketing has almost grown up to where its just part of Marketing now days
its ok.. balloon dogs don't bite
