Thanks for your review Cody. Though what's interesting is the(2)two reviews on Penguin magic only gave it 2 stars out of 5 and a bad review.

Hey RNK and Johnny, I went and read their reviews to address their concerns. So it seems like the main problems is DIY. I agree with some of their points. However I disagree with them on a whole. The gimmick might not work if you make it incorrectly, but for me it works and looks like the trailer performances. If you don't have experience building gimmicks and don't want to take the time to make this or effort, then you won't like this. It is a little more difficult to put together than a !@#$ c*** if that is helpful. If you hate DIY stay away, but if you don't mind it and like making your own gimmicks, then I think you will find value in this. The video isn't Shin Lim or David Regal quality but you can understand what's going on.

Bitcoin is easier to crack than this thing: !@#$ c***
Knowing that Imagination Box is only practical as an opener is critical info. Thank you to the reviewer for that. I'm not too concerned that the box isn't examinable afterward if the ad copy is true that the box holds a deck of cards the whole time. If it can hold a full deck which you can REMOVE after the trick and perform with then ditching the box in your pocket is easy because you're already on to the next effect. |

Hey Robvh, my autocorrect changed the first word! Thank you for pointing that out. It is a little harder to make than a f**p c***, sorry about that and shoot me a message if you would like to ask a little bit more about specifics(: And that is correct, it can hold a deck full deck the whole time.

I bought this. If I had onown that it was a MAJOR diy effort, I would have passed. Scissors, stickers, pin holes, feeding elastic thread through the holes, tying them off? Sorry, not for me. That this is a rather big project should have been advertised.

Another con her,is that you are supplied with just enough elastic and stickers to make one, and one gimmick only. One mistake and you are dead! That means you have to do it all correct first time! In the video, he never mention anything about "getready", where and how to store the gimmick untill you are ready to perform, nothing about how to tighten the elastic after a couple of performances etc. etc. I feel that this should be an idea in a book, not sold as a tricks. Ok for instagram-videos, and to impress your girlfriend, not for a real-life-worker. |

I appreciate the reviews and comments on limitations and DIY. This would have ended up in my magic drawer for sure. It looks pretty nice on camera but sounds like a royal pain to make and maintain for something that's not really practical in the real world. YouTube magic. Hopefully the feedback will inspire the creator (or others) to build on the idea and create something that overcomes these limitations.

This does (did) look nice but not for all the negative reviews that are now coming in. Appreciate everyone's reviews and honesty!

Ge-Ge is correct by saying you have to hold it in your hands. You can hold the gimmick for a while and I have tried this out on college campus and it played pretty well. That being said you have to open with this and have the box in your hand before going up to your audience. You can't do the set up right in front of them like I mentioned earlier which is why I think this has it's place with table hopping situations. Someone who bought this on penguin that rated it four stars said they "developed to eliminate set up and angle difficulties". I would love to see what they did with it to eliminate the set up.

I love the idea of this, I like the method. The problem of angles really isn't that much of an issue, as the switch is near instant and the spectator's vision only needs to be obscured for a split second. I can't give more praise to the idea.
I like it so much I would have paid double the price for a ready to go out of the box version. But the DIY is a killer. You'd need to be far more patient and steady than me to build this effectively. After snapping the elastic thread for the third time after threading it through tiny holes in cramped spaces and trying to tie it, I put it aside and I very much doubt I''l give it another go. This really is something which would probably do a lot better if sold at a higher price point as a functioning prop. |
