Greetings Members-

After a few years performing Cabaret/Stage- I realize I do not have a great silk routine that I would very much like to perform.

I would like your advice/experience on what to use for 2-3 mins as a silk portion of my act.

Suggestions for an effect to music as well as a talking segment would be appreciated!

I used to use Doves from silks but no more -would be happy to combine a few effects.

Any help appreciated

-Brent

Hi Brent:

I recommend that you buy the Rice's Encyclopedia of Silk Magic (four volumes). You can buy all or just one volume; this will give you so many ideas on what you'd like to do. They are a GREAT resource.

Also, check out the Jeff McBride "Magic on Stage" videos/DVDs. There is a lot of terrific silk magic on these tapes - even some entire routines.

Go to http://www.silkkingmagic.com for the books. The Jeff McBride series can be bought just about anywhere.

I hope this helps you - these are 2 of the best resources I can recommend to someone who's interested in silk magic.

Wow-

wmhegbli- thanks so much for all the effects mentioned, I'm sure there's something in there that suits my style - I'll check out all of the above- thanks again!!

Ron- Good ideas- The only Tape I don't have of McBride is Vol 2 with all the silk effects- typical!!!
I will also look into Rice's Encylopedia set.
Thanks so much for your kind suggestions

I do the Half-Dyed Hank using a Palmo Ball as the gimmick - no tube switch is required this way. It does take some work to keep the silk being produced from pull out one of the other silks with it, though.
