Hello,

any thoughts to value of this book? I don't want to overpay.

Hello,
It depends how much someone is asking you for this book. I think I paid 55 dollars for it.
It’s a great book with a lot to think, perform and marvel at.

People set crazy prices for magic books all the time. Just look at Amazon and ABE.

Those who understand that are going to ask this question.

Unfortunately I can't offer much about the current market value -- I haven't noticed it changing hands very often. $80ish?

I have ample patience, so I'd likely wait til I found one under that threshold...

What do you mean by "crazy" prices?
I once saw a painting sell for a million dollars. The owner's guests liked to look at it on the wall, but they preferred the cocktail magician.
His material only cost several thousand, and he earned nearly a million.

If people buy paintings worthing millions just to show to others, that’s stupid bragging, or maybe investment. Most of people purchase art for themselves.
I don’t think people hire magicians just for themselves. It’s completely two different things in my point of view.

I never see Tricks on the second market. There is a valuable reason.

I would agree. Who said anything about buying paintings just to show others?

Actually, I’m not sure to have understood what you wanted to say, especially « he earned nearly a million ».

Back to the thread, I think you can make a career with only the contents of this book.

I really enjoyed the book, I think I managed to pick it up from Ebay at about £30. I found it full of workable tricks, and I also liked that it had stand up/parlour routines in as well as close up. I would have happily paid 3 times the price I did
