Today's announcement is something amazing that fooled Penn and Teller and it has an awesome kicker ending!
Description: More than thirty years ago Paul Gertner developed "Unshuffled," one of the most memorable and influential routines EVER devised with a pack of cards. Thirty years later (and fresh off of fooling Penn & Teller), Paul is releasing the ultimate and FAR SUPERIOR version, which we call Unshuffled Kicker. This is now the definitive version of this classic routine. The effect begins just like the original "Unshuffled" -- a selected card is found by "unshuffling" the deck. Strange markings on the side of the deck slowly align to form the word "Unshuffled" -- written with a Sharpie marker on the edges of the cards. To end, the entire deck goes back into numerical order, culminating with the transformation of the word on the side of the deck, from "Unshuffled" to the selected "King of Hearts." The NEW ending is that the message on the side of the deck changes YET AGAIN to a message of your choosing. Paul used "Penn and Teller" for the wording on the side of the deck. You can make your own name appear, or any slogan or number or design you wish. The new ending can be added onto any deck design you wish, and is extremely easy to integrate into the "Unshuffled" routine. You receive full instructions on how to perform the classic "Unshuffled," as well as all the details for the new, outrageous ending for Unshuffled Kicker. If Penn and Teller were fooled by this, your audience will be as well! More info: https://www.murphysmagic.com/Product.aspx?id=61510 Best regards, Titanas

I hope that Murphy's gets a lot of complaints from calling this a beginner level trick.
Unfortunately, what will likely happen since more people want beginner tricks, is that more people will buy it, not be able to do it, and put it in the drawer instead of complaining and returning it. Click here to view attached image. |

Some one needs to develop a gimmick that does the faro for me. Not that I'm lazy, just not talented.

A faro isn't a problem, a perfect faro so many times is the problem. I wonder how close it would work if the faro wasn't so perfect each time.

Love this trick and love the faro but this is so far from a beginner trick, it’s not funny.

"Magic Café - Magicians helping magicians"
More like "Magicians making excuses" 😆 My gilrfriend learned to do a perfect faro from older Paul Gertner video in ONE DAY! So magicians whining that faro is hard is just ridicilious. You are just lazy... There are people out there doing table faros and hitting perfect faros blindfolded. Those are difficult but hitting normal faro is just a lack of practise as long as you use decent quality deck. I wonder if the kicker can be done without close-up pad?!? |

As I recall if you don't do every Faro perfectly with a few cards off the unshuffled word is still very readable.
You just cant show the finale where the deck is back in new deck order. This happened to me a few times and I just excluded the cards in order ending. |

Absolutely incredible that this is labelled as beginner magic. It’s anything but.

I'm going to have to agree with everyone else questioning the validity of the trick being categorised as "beginner". That being said, having picked this product up in Paul Gertner's lecture, I feel as though there are a few things that are misleading in the ad copy.
The DVD does teach how to do Unshuffled, however, it doesn't go into detail as to how to do perfect faro shuffles (it's suggested that you get Paul Gertner's other DVD on this subject Unshuffling The Faro Shuffle for this). That being said, once you know how to do perfect faro shuffles you could technically class Unshuffled as a "beginner trick". However, this DVD focuses more on the Unshuffled kicker, which is a different beast altogether. While there is a lot of preparation required to set up your gimmick, once it's done you will be able to do the third reveal (or the kicker) without any knowledge of how to do the faro shuffle. This means that it's possible to use this gimmick without being able to do Unshuffled (although, of course, it's better to know how to be able to do Unshuffled). What the DVD teaches: - How to create a Unshuffled deck (This, I believe is incredibly helpful as Unshuffling The Faro Shuffle didn't get into detail this and although this may be obvious to some people, I think the tips that are shown here are valuable). - How to set up your Unshuffled deck to perform Unshuffled (This is a brief walkthrough that doesn't go into detail like Unshuffling The Faro Shuffle) - How to prepare your Unshuffled Kicker gimmick to match your deck and custom message. - How to perform Unshuffled (Again, brief walkthrough, but he does give a few hints on how to faro which may be enough for some. I still think that you should use another resource to learn the faro). - Three ways in which the gimmick can be used: -- Unshuffled with the Unshuffled Kicker that does not require a close-up pad. This is the one I believe most people would use. -- Unshuffled with the Unshuffled Kicker in the way that fooled Penn & Teller. -- A trick that uses the Unshuffled Kicker as a reveal. A card (for example the 2 of Spades) is selected and the deck is shuffled. The spectator says what their card is and the card is revealed on the side of the deck. The card they selected is found in the box and the deck can then be spread to show that it's all in new deck order other than the selected card. This does not require any knowledge of how to do a faro shuffle (which may be the reason why this trick is "qualified" to be categorised as a "beginner trick"). So really, the "beginner" aspect of this trick is more on how to handle the Unshuffled Kicker gimmick, and while you could technically use it for a trick that isn't Unshuffled, I think it's better to use it with Unshuffled. I don't think Unshuffled is a beginner trick. Perhaps maybe it's an intermediate trick. Learning how to do perfect faro shuffles will take time and practice. So I wouldn't recommend this trick to a beginner. I would, however, recommend it for those who know how to perform Unshuffled, or for those who are motivated to learn how to do Unshuffled. While you could technically use the gimmick without having to learn the faro shuffle, it is far more rewarding to learn how to do perfect faro shuffles and do the Unshuffled trick. I personally recommend getting Unshuffling The Faro Shuffle to learn the faro shuffle. The DVD is very thorough on how to get the finger placements correct and the pressure and so on. Paul Gertner suggests that you should be able to do 8 perfect faro shuffles in a minute or less with enough practice. I'm nowhere near that at the moment as the fastest I've been able to do it is 2 minutes 17 seconds. However, I'm determined to keep at it and get faster (even though it's perhaps advisable to do this with care at a non-rushed pace). Overall, I think this is a great product and watching it made me appreciate more what Paul Gertner did to fool Penn & Teller; and although I don't think I will be performing this anytime soon, I will be putting in the practice with my faro shuffles until I can feel confident that I can perform it flawlessly. |

I just received my Paul Gertner Unshuffling The Faro Shuffle yesterday. Today, I did 8 straight perfect Faro shuffles (new deck order Faro shuffled back to new deck order).
The reason I post this is to say Paul is a GREAT teacher and his instructions for doing a Faro shuffle are extremely detailed - he goes over everything, from splitting the halves to hand/finger positions to other minute details that will have you Faro shuffling like a pro in no time. I need to work on my speed, but I’m very happy with the progress I’ve made thanks to Paul’s instructions. Oh, and I’d never done a Faro shuffle before (my limited attempts in the past were not perfect shuffles). If you do not have it already, get his Unshuffling The Faro Shuffle if for nothing else than to learn to Faro shuffle. Plus, you get a deck of cards lettered by Paul for doing the Unshuffled routine. |

My only question is, can the kicker ending deck be given out as a souvenir without the recipient finding anything out? If so, then I am in.
I am getting so tired of slitting the throats of people who say that I am a violent psychopath.

She must be a naturally gifted magician as well. I predict we will be hearing great things about her very soon. |
