I have the Super Sharpie (got it from Magic Depot),
but I'm reading many reviews on Penguin where users are saying Oz's handling is far better than Chris's. I can see a lot of room for improvement in the handling given on the dvd I got. I can barely get the NR off the end, it's so slippery. Would've been better maybe if it were made of rubber and not plastic...then my fingertips could get a grip on it. If anyone has the Oz's description, I would be very appreciative. Thanks, Max

I have super sharpie and have used it a few times. I would really like to see Oz's handeling of it. It's nice when you use a sharpie all the time for signatures then use the same sharpie for the effect.

Hey guys, for those who have the super sharpie:
can this be performed for walk around? as in I perform when I'm standing up usually - can I give her the pen to hold or put it in my pocket? or do I have to put it on a table like in the demo? thanks |

This can be performed for walk-around. Re-set is instant. You can give the pen for others to hold. It's clean. They won't find a thing. This is a good buy!

I found it to be quite clever in design in terms of the gimmick being hidden in plain sight. I also like the fact that changing ink is a breeze. What I don't like is getting ink all over my fingers while I am practicing and I'm uncertain about the quality of my writing vs. a standard boon writer. I think with practice the handling and the handwriting can be greatly improved.

Does anybody else find that the nib breaks off too easily after a few uses. I have had two now and this has happened so I have given up on this product at £30 a sharpie (I think that's what I payed couple of years ago now) while a good idea too expensive to keep replacing when it breaks.

Tony,
I'd recommend handling the nib with extreme care. It is known to be sensitive and can break, as you have experienced. Regards, Mike |

Mike,
Thanks for the advice I might give it another go, because its a good idea, while people sometimes suspect a NW they don't expect a sharpie version. Regards Tony |

This one is messy if you're not careful but it's a great device to use. I figured everybody else gave it up and that's why I still use it. Never had a the nib break but have replaced the innards several times.
Extra nibs use to be available. |

Just got this from Chris. I have to say I love Magic Smith effects, if I'm not careful my entire set will consist of them. I was looking for a boon Sharpie and here I am, once again back at Magic Smith.
The CD is very informative and the method is nice, especially the re-inking part. Unfortunately there was a bit of a leak during transport, so I've had to spend some time cleaning up the pen, as it was messy and drew attention to the gimmick. Ordering from Chris was a breeze, he was very speedy with his replies (even apologising for this) and delivery from Vegas to London was quick too. The biggest downside for me is the writing quality. I'm finding numbers fairly easy, and may use these at when I first introduce this into my set, but I'd really like to be able write whole words without it looking like a 2 years has written it. I plan to practice of course but any other tips would be much appreciated. |

When I'm doing paper money magic, I sometimes transition into a mentalism routine using the Super Sharpie. It can fit in well when I previously had them sign a bill(s) with a sharpie during my money routine. I typically use their bill to write my prediction on. You are writing in the air on a bill, so they don't expect the writing to look good. If your "I predict" sentence is written in similar shaky style it looks consistent. I would avoid trying to write long words though; keep it simple and it hits hard.

As suggested I've also found any "I predict" writing needs to be done in the same style as the Super Sharpie, so writing in the air is a great tip. Will use numbers at first (8s, 6s and 0s are the trickiest) but have also been practicing the alphabet and getting improved results. Am still finding it a bit messy though. |
