I am very happy with mine, and find the principle behind it ingenious to say the least. If your hands are used to " work " with cards, coins etc. I cant really understand why this should be
difficult to hide, as long as you watch your angles and manage your spectators appropriately, wether this be close up or parlor or stage does not make a difference to me in this regard. I don't find noise to be an issue at all as long as you are not performing in an University library. This is a utility device imho and should be combined with other heat / cold / bending effects to utilize its maximum potential, allthough I think it is powerful enough by itself to demonstrate mind power or some SM demonstration lol . As for the price I am glad it is priced the way it is as it will hopefully keep it out of the hands of the merely curious you tube "heroes". |

We all know guys at paralabs are genius and Rex Ignis makes no exception. This is a state of the heart piece of apparatus built specifically for this effect with professionals in mind.
Now for the limitations. To my opinion you obtain the maximum impact if you implant the gimmick in your own setting. The gimmick is quite big and it must be hidden in some way. Personally I wouldn't take the risk to keep the gimmick in my hands even if theoretically it could be possible. There are many ways to hide the gimmick if you can manage your setting. With that premise it is perfect for stage as well as small parlour situations. I can't imagine presenting this in a strolling situation. The beauty of the gimmick is that you can set it up in such a way that once installed (before the show) you can present the effect in any moment of your show without The need to do anything during the show. You just place the candle on the table and go straight into the effect. You can use a candle as well as a lighter. I haven't noticed any noise issues. Keep up the good work. |

This video is wildly helpful--thank you for posting it. This answers some of my questions--though there are still some major questions I have waiting to be answered, specifically about whether this would get confiscated at customs or airport security.
Just to clarify, this can be done with a zippo lighter?

Just to clarify the above performance: I could have held both the spectator's and my own hand over the candle for much longer - basically any amount of time. The moment the spectator felt the heat again was under my control to the very second, just in case it seemed a bit hectic in the video. This was the exact moment I chose to make the heat come through. Everything is under the performer's control at all times.
I believe Rainer has developed a wonderful tool with RexIgnis and I just keep coming up with more presentational ploys for it. Highly recommended! .

However, I have been performing RI the way I did it in the video regularly now and what we might expect would be problematic theoretically has in practice turned out to be no problem at all Cheers, Timon

Pity, I can not go downstairs yet - any chance to have this discussion also on the Facebook page?

So, I did play around with RI over the last few weeks and I do have mixed feelings, not about the product and not about the effect, I really think this is a professional product and I got great reactions, it is more about how “user friendly it is”, or better about how I will use it.
If I would have known the “limitations” beforehand, then I, most probably, would not have gone for it. It is a bit difficult to explain without going into the details. Over the last few weeks, I had approx. 7 occasions where I wanted to use the RI, unfortunately, I was only able to use it for 3 times, and one time I was improvising with an Ipad (Candle on Ipad). The 3 times I used it, it got great reactions. I told a story about burn injuries that hurt less or heal better if you can “mentally” cool down your mind, or about tricking the mind into not feeling the heat again by “cooling down” yourself, I then let the spectators feel the heat of the flame and then go into this state of mind to do the effect. The product works perfectly, going “into it” and “out of it” is easy and very natural, the noise is not an issue. Now, why was I not able to use it the other times? The set-up or “build” of the “environment” did not let me – hope that makes sense? As an example, one time they decorated all the tables with very nice tablecloth, other times I just could not use it, it did not fit. Anyway, it was mentioned that this is great for Parlor and Stage – I have to agree with this. It is a pity as the effect really leaves an impression, so there is another thing I am trying and this is to find some special “candleholder”, maybe like this I can get rid of the “special environmental” issues and still use it a lot – or I hope for the best whenever I want to use it Hope this helps |

I made this effect 5 years ago.
Sleeveless and without anything hidden in my body. In my version I do not have to be close to the viewer so that effect happens in their hands. I'm glad other versions come out. Regards. |

Not sure if you'll feel my opinion has any worth here as I'm obviously friends with Paralabs and did the promo video for RI (again though, I have absolutely no financial gain whatsoever here) but I actually do use RI regularly. Primarily in my stage shows; it'll actually be a fixed part of my upcoming 70 theater tour through the Netherlands this fall. Very strong effect, both visually and in terms of premise. I'm very excited to be sharing this with so many audiences this year!

Are you able to demo this while free standing around and holding the candle/lighter in one hand and obviously the other hand over the flame? (No table)
Thank you in advance Brothers |
