Thanks for posting that, what a cool article! Life was such a great magazine.
Do you think those pics and descriptions of card moves were really produced by Life, or were they actually taken from something else? They seem, to me, like they might have been pulled from some other publication. They are using terms like "cull" "palm" and "knuckle flash" without any real explanation. I guess people could deduce the meanings, but it seems a bit out of place for an article like this. Also, are there any documented cases of anyone actually having their second finger amputated at the first joint to hide knuckle flash while bottom dealing? Lol. Seems to me that if you are playing with people sharp enough to look for knuckle flash, sitting down at a table with half your finger missing might be a bit of a tell!! Odd that the pics are out of sequence, but the page numbers are in order. Sloppy editing? And is it just me or did Mickey keep an extremely long right thumbnail? lol |
