Before anyone has a conniption, I wouldn't care if it was a purple orangutan with lime green spots wearing a fedora who was doing this.
But when you have things like -

https://www.wvgazettemail.com/news/cops_......214.html

And -

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.vox.com......hipments

Then a policy of "just say no" will be as effective as abstinence only teaching, or any type of prohibition.
A wall has nothing to do with this since the drug dealers are American companies.

Add to that the rise in heroin use, and it's as bad as it can get.

The last administration stood by, lining their pockets while this got out of control.
Now we have an epidemic requiring decisive action.

Some states are doing something to hold the companies responsible, but it will be interesting to see if any actually punitive fines are imposed, whether any wrong doing is admitted, and if anyone goes to prison.

NYC is suing for $500 million, but that's a joke.

If their was ever a time that those who knew, and allowed it, were made to pay for the damage they caused then this is it.

This is not a new situation Smile

Pharmaceutical companies have much stronger pain medication ready to go ... but it's not the pain part that's causing so much suffering here. (or in China a century ago)

The problems are outside the medicine/liquor cabinet. What's making the risks and costs of being impaired seem a sensible choice to some people?

Is this->"marketing that falsely suggests an opioid does not have addictive qualities or risks" what the fuss is about - marketing without a glo-in-the-dark disclaimer and exculpatory language? Smile

warning - reading this post out of context may cause an increase in blood pressure...

Since it is likely going nowhere, it is really not even much of a start.

"The bill does not yet have any co-sponsors, and with Republicans in control of both chambers of Congress and the White House, it is unlikely to move forward anytime soon."
Make America Great Again! - Trump in 2020 ... "We're a capitalistic society. I go into business, I don't make it, I go bankrupt. They're not going to bail me out. I've been on welfare and food stamps. Did anyone help me? No." - Craig T. Nelson, actor.
