Not "instead" THE same thing. BTW your make a ton of bad (wrong) assumptions.
"Does it do what you see in the video" no. In the video this thing is silent. They keep "saying" it is "whisper quiet". In reality it sounds like a swarm of bees |

I haven’t got this – so I don’t know if it does make a noise… maybe by ‘whisper quiet’ they meant as quiet as a whisper at a rock concert [?] |

This effect [which I was sort of defending a few posts back] is defintely one that will bring spectators closer to you - to see/watch the effect
So if this has a noise... then that's a handicap in many performance areas I note that the ad copy does NOT say it is 'whisper quiet' - it doesn't mention noise at all [suggestion that they know it was an issue/negative]... I also note that they have loud music on the video Also the ad copy doesn't say or mention noise I guess the 'whisper quiet' is something the creator or a reviewer has posted on this thread [?] To be honest even a whisper - would kill this effect for many situations... So if it's a loud 'whisper' - than that kills too many situations where this could be workable I guess if you are always in loud rooms - or want to do it to music - maybe then it will work... but even in a noisy room people will come nearer and may catch what's going on |

Yeah but normal performing conditions for him might be a construction site

IMO, this is one of the best method I have learnt and used effectively. With just a little practice one can master the effect.

Just one extra little item for the Finn Jon method... I have the Anverdi version also with the Jumbo lucite nut and bolt using this method. I still enjoy showing this especially to magicians.
Am still awaiting my Re volution, ordered through my local brick and mortar. Will give an honest assessment compared to the numerous other methods I have experimented with over the years. I love animation effects and have always had a fondness for this effect in general. Ustaad, if you send me your e-mail I will send you my method for a hands off way of doing Micro Psychic. I think you might get a kick out of it. Cheers John |

Can this be done hands off? (ex. thread the nut on bolt, put them under a cup, and when the cup is lifted, the nut is shown separated?

In Finn Jon's method no gimmick of any sort is used - Just a simple Nut-n-Bolt and a silk to cover (one can use a cap instead ).
Now let's get back on topic please. Thank you.

Have had this for a week now and played with it daily. Love the effect and want to add it to my daily work.
A few problems I'm having 1) Can not consistently get the nut to turn. He makes it look a lot easier in the video. I've spent a lot of time trying to find a sweet spot. 2) Very difficult to perform with tweezers. 3) When it does start to turn, I don't know which way it is going to go. May not be a problem for some, but I would like to know which direction it is headed. 4) This is not "whisper" quiet as stated by the creator. I have poor hearing and I hear it well. My wife hears it across the room. 5) Batteries only last about 20 minutes, so store up if you want to use this consistently. (cheap button batteries) On a positive note, it is small and easy to hide and ditch. I really want to like this - I will turn it into something I can use. Already thinking of other applications for it. Bang for your buck? I don't see it - your mileage may vary. |

Would anyone happen to know the type and size of the included nut and bolt, for those of us who want to give them away and want to know exactly what to look for? Or is it included in the instructions?

It's not gaffed - you can use any similar sized nut and bolt
best to ask ppl to bring some with them and use a specs nut and bolt... oh and by the looks of it - ask them to bring noise cancelling headphones as well |

@ Josho: For such effects one isn't restricted to a particular size of nut-n-bolt. On the size and selection of Nut-n-Bolt, you might like to checkout my following posts:-
