Ok, before I start - I have to stay that personally, I have zero issue with someone taking a thing from elsewhere and repurposing it...that's pretty standard in magic and mentalism...
however, I do take umbrage at certain white lies and playing with words to disguise a fact that no one should be ashamed of...just say "hey, this effect uses something from *name the loose category* and I've found an amazing use for it for mentalism"...where's the shame in doing that? Which leads me onto this.. Quote:
On Feb 9, 2018, Dominic Reyes wrote: development for a decade, prototypes, evolution, that kind of thing - that suggests something mechanical and a bespoke item that is built (prototyped) and tested - then refined etc, rebuilt...and this isn't. Its pretty much the same gimmick I bought from Jimmy via a Facebook magic/mentalism offer page. It was a lot cheaper back then, and you didn't replace the batteries, you just went out, bought the "thing" and then wrapped it back up with tape. That was three or so years ago I think. And the use of the term "whisper quiet", is false too in my experience. Only had it for a day, however, I did record it on my basic smartphone, both close up and zoomed in from a distance. It is by no means "whisper quiet". And I get the sentiment put forward that at gigs, there's background noise. However, two things... a) you're doing something freaky and people will want to get close b) some gig environments have less background noise than say a busy TGI or similar The blanket term "whisper quiet" suggests exactly what it says. And it is 100% not. I would say that the video put forward was shot in a quiet room, but zoomed in from a bit of a distance, rather than shot at close-range. I did a few tests too. Background tv noise - could still be heard by others within 3 or 4 foot...i didn't pre-tell anyone, just asked "tell me what you are aware of" and left it at that...music was a bit better, as I guess there's more variety in the tones, and that worked better to disguise it... the effect itself works as it should, personally, I don't like the tweezer thing, but I understand why you'd use it...wouldn't say its test-conditions though... i think it was said that there's two speeds somewhere on this thread? that's not true. Overall I don't think the advertising has been very honest and the use of language is misleading. I don't think this is worth the money considering what you get, and the R&D behind it. Sure, newer/better *doodahs may have been released, however, that's only the basics of R&D. NO extra machined pieces, no building a component etc It does work, and its fairly simple to use - however, I will now think twice before buying from these guys again - as I think they've been a little too misleading...they're not the only ones, and I've stopped buying from those guys too...i'm sure they won't miss me... so yes - it works as it should and boo to some of the more misleading comments, it is to their detriment... i think the spinning psi wheel is the best use of this product 5/10

Just got this today. Whisper quiet is kind of a vague term, but I would have to say that the unit probably would be considered to be whisper quiet.
But unfortunately even whisper quiet is too loud for my uses. If you are a pro working restaurants or strolling then there should be no problem, but for those like my myself who are performing mainly for friends and co-workers any home or office environment will likely be too quiet to cover the noise. You're going to need to cover the sound wth something. But if you are out in a pub then it should be fine. So unfortunately this is not a product that will work for me. Already have it packed up for it's return. As a footnote, I think the 10 years of development must have been a stretch. Probably more like, tried one device and it didn't work well, then a few years later stumbled upon a different device and still not right, then a few years after that found this device and put it on the market. That said, none of that would bother me if it were just quieter. The noise is really the only issue I have with it. But as I said, for those working gigs I doubt that would be an issue. |

I gathered from the thread that the exact size of the hardware was not at all crucial; still, as it's being claimed that many years went into finding all the perfect components, I figured I'd ask if the nut and bolt's ideal measurements were included. You are a terrific help, as always! |

It’s called distance selling regulations I believe.
Right to cancel You must tell the customer they can cancel their order up to 14 days after their order is delivered. They don’t need to give a reason for cancelling. If you don’t tell the customer about their right to cancel, they can cancel at any time in the next 12 months. If you tell them about the right to cancel during these 12 months, they have 14 days to cancel from when you told them. |

That is why I stated “Most GOOD dealers”.
But to be clear, I also feel it’s important that people not abuse return policies. |

Seems most of the time it wants to spin off the bolt, which isn't a problem but think it spinning up the bolt is a little more magical. I have tried 3 different style of tweezers (none which looked like the ones in the video) and must say did not get it to do much and just felt awkward holding it like he showed. Whisper quiet, uh not quite but if you are performing in a smaller quiet setting need some noise misdirection. I perform mainly where there is always background noise, outside with cars, a pub, work place so that won't be an issue once I get all the bugs worked out. |

Regarding the noise, perhaps the performer can just tell the audience he's going to make the nut move by sound, and then just hum rather loudly at the bolt/nut to cover the noise?

For effective conduction of vibration, metal tweezers needs a much higher amplitude of vibration than a plastic tweezer. The tweezers I tried was a cheap plastic tweezer as seen in the photo attached. In the photo, tweezer numbers (counting from left to right) 1,6 & 8 have proved to be more effective than the others. This is because these three tweezers have a much thicker and wider prongs. Also one can well imagine the advantages (in the minds of the spectators) of using a plastic tweezers over metal tweezers. Please Note: I use my own home made contraption for such effects. I had mentioned this contraption of mine (in this very thread) but my post was promptly deleted. However that was good for me. I'm glad I'm not the only one that has had difficulty finding the sweet spot whether with my hand or with tweezers. LOVE the plastic tweezer idea. Makes perfect sense. Forgot my basic conduit science...lol.

I have found that getting the bolt in direct contact yields in much stronger and more consistent results than the way showed in the expl. video.

Kaan,
Thanks for the review. Nice job. I have used it for about a week, and I haven't had any problem with any "power loss". Perhaps it is because I turn it on and off for short periods. I agree with you on the noise issue. I have been performing this under the premise of making it move by humming at a certain "pitch" That covers the noise just fine. I have also gotten "close" to controlling the movement up and down pretty well. Not 100%, but pretty well. Perhaps others will have different results, but for some reason, when I hole it horizontally, it moves in one direction and when I hold it vertically it moved in the opposite direction. This came after a lot of practice. Really, I don't think it matters. After a week, perhaps more, this is still my favorite of these sorts of gimmicks. KJ |
