She had a gun (turned out to be a bb gun) in her hand, came out of the house walking away from the police. They opened fire, she was hit 8 times. She fell to her driveway, then the police began yelling at her to put down the gun. The gun was found on her car in the driveway. Police reported that she made a threatening motion toward them (video shows otherwise) and that they identified themselves (video shows otherwise), and that they instructed her to put down the gun before shooting her (video, with audio) shows otherwise.

you should see some of the pellet guns we sell at Walmart, they’ll get you gunned down in a hot second! I thought realistic looking toy guns had to be colored hot orange or something. No?

Yes Kids Toy Guns have a red or orange tip on the end. But Pellet guns don’t. I have a pellet gun pistol and it looks real from a short distance.
Ed can tell you more about the guns than me but I think some can cost as much as a real gun. Tom

I don't know how much real guns cost, (we don't sell any) but the pellet guns are expensive.
Apparently you don't need to be armed to be considered a threat worthy of a "fatal" response; https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/a-depu......artanntp

"... I suppose it is tempting, if the only tool you have is a hammer, to treat everything as if it were a nail." Maslow.
The sad thing is that too many officers see their gun as their only tool. A taser would have worked well in so many (not all) circumstances. |

Gene Roddenberry had an idea for a series about a police force that uses only un-lethal technology to stop criminals.
I don't know if he got as far as a pilot.

Amid all of this, the NRA is seeing an increase in membership. Up over 170% from last month in my state of Virginia. Up over 200% from this time last year. The firearms dealers are also reporting record sales. Especially of so called assault weapons. Seems this happens every time anti gun advocacy groups start up.

Seems this happens every time... Yes, those millions of guns sales are really working to prevent mass shootings. Until the next time, when even more guns will be bought. It's a great business model.

Unfortunately use of less than lethal options may not be effective when they need to be. Bean bags, pepper spray and tasers don't always work on a drug fueled maniac.

But you can not base a decision not to use them because they do not always work. I'm not saying take out fatal weapons. But incidentally not many of us run into drug fueled maniacs. 99% of the time even the drug fueled maniac is taken down by a properly placed tazer. Also my main point is not about if one should or should not have firearms. My positron is clear. But the problem with them is many fold. They take tremendous skill to use effectively. More than that it is binary. Use it to kill or keep it in the holster. So if someone is going to steal your wallet you can then kill then for it. This can be a very difficult thing to live with. I have met several people years removed from exactly such a situation who have been living a moral nightmare. So many people never consider that it take a little something to kill sorbet human being and that you must live with it forever. Everyone is always really cool until it happens and if it is life or death or kill or be killed those people tend to be much better at sleeping than the wallet example. I'm not saying anyone is right or wrong. Just pointing out the reality of the situation.

Keep it up and maybe we can double the number of guns out there. Since that's your goal, if you really believed that gun control did that, you would support it.

I didn't say gun control did that. What I said was that the constant 'demand' for gun control did it. So go ahead, keep demanding it.

LOL. Then demand gun control, since you are convinced demanding it will spur gun sales. If you'd like to contribute to several gun control advocacy groups to achieve your goal, the addresses are easily available.

MY goal isn't to sell more guns. My goal is to simply protect my rights. I'm just pointing out that it appears to be YOUR goal as that is what your efforts are accomplishing. Good job!
