I'm curious as to why the  "Ricky Jay's McDonald's Ace routine in print or DVD?" discussion in Cards is locked. It did not seem to denigrate into fruitlessness, though there were only moments that it could have, and anyone reading it had to come away with more thoughtful understanding of ethics and integrity.
My main concern is that in discussions of moral, ethical matters, it is the DETAILS brought about by many people (and the quibbling over those details) that finally allow many to reach a concensus. I believe the discussion was just starting to reach that point, and futher discussion may have very well led to a positive growth for the uninitiated. Now, that has been cut short, by a subjective judgment. Of course, it's your's to make, but I don't understand it. In this case, the issue of ethics was closely tied into a particular card trick. What a great place and a great time and a great way to have that discussion! Put simply, there are some discussions that cry out for almost endless back and forths, and tiptoe near the personal. But these are usually the most important topics (ethics, etc.). Why not wait and see where this may have gone, and take a chance some very important learning was yet to come? What was gained by locking it? And what was lost? |

The topic is unlocked. I don't know why it was locked.

There is nothing that remains so constant as change. Don't end up like concrete, all mixed up and permanently set.

After further review with some of the staff, I am told that this thread was moved off of the open forums for review, it was then moved back after the review was completed, at that time the thread should have been "unlocked" however, the staff made a very human error and forgot to unlock the thread.
Sorry for any inconvience this may have caused you. Mya
