Thank You for your thoughts. As creative as magicians are it is interesting that a nick name or slang hasn't been commonly used instead of "spectator" or "audience" or "helper".
How many magicians does it take to change a lightbulb? Regardless, for magicians darkness is a time for d'lite.

In general, specialized language in a discourse comes up for expedience, and so I think that's why there isn't an in-discourse shorthand for "participant;" there simply isn't a need. For an example, another term you used--coins talking-- is a shorthand because saying "when you did that move, the coins could be heard clicking against each other" is unwieldy.

In many of my available routines, I offer a distinction between the various roles of audience members - and even apply the labels to some/all directly:
observer, participant, witness, referee, etc.

In a new mentalism effect, I have all participants play a role in an imaginary fax machine: scanner, buffer, amplifier, insulator and router.

They all cooperate in sending group telepathic images to me across the room (receiver).

The best part is that differences in perception/knowledge of various age cohorts can be used to advantage without ego threat.

The use of personification and anthropomorphism techniques should be part of every performer's skill set.

Thank You for that and I agree there isn't a need although with how creative and fun performers and entertainers can be, I am suprised that another term hasn't been conjured up. Pun intended Smile

Was that live or on one of his videos?
