I'm reading a "click-bait" article on the most under-rated spots in each state.
New Jersey has a spot called "Point Pleasant;" https://www.msn.com/en-us/travel/article......image=31 I wonder if anyone's busked it, or in fact if they allow busking?

I've visited this a few times (I live in South Jersey, but it's a nice spot to visit. Like a ... cleaner, more family-friendly Wildwood.) I hadn't seen any buskers any of the times I visited, but if it's anything like Wildwood, a permit would be required, and no tips allowed. I never looked into it further because it's about a 2.5 hr drive for me, so wasn't worth it.
As a side note, however, while on the subject, it USED to be alright to busk in Ocean City, NJ. Was actually a great spot, buuuut a few years ago, the merchants raised a ruckus...thought it was unfair we made "their" money, and complained to City Hall. I went to the meetings to fight it, but none of the other adult buskers showed up to support it, and we failed. The following Summer, a permit was instituted. $50 for the Summer (not bad), BUT you HAVE to EMAIL them your "requested availability" for each weekend in ADVANCE, you are then only allowed to busk at one of several spots, where they tell you...and then only between the hours of 6p-10p on weekdays, 7p-10p on Sundays. NO Thursdays or Tuesdays, as those are Family Nights, and of course, you can be moved/shut down at any time, your permit revoked, if the Merchants (the ones that started this whole thing) complain about you being there or making too much noise/crowd issues. All in all, it killed a lot of the busking, but don't think they care much :/ It's a shame. In any case, I'm always looking for some spots around town, as well. If you know of any good spots in South Jersey/Philly area, please do let me know! I miiiiight be looking into Florida in coming months/year as well, but...not sure about that just yet. Best of luck! |
