Got the gimmicks in the mail today - they look pretty darn good. Now to do some arts and crafts and give it a spin. I think I’ll try using it as the vanish for John Murrray’s The Mark. No issues about examining the card box when the signed coin instantly reappears in a metal ring on a keychain they’ve been holding in their hand the entire time...
Now appearing nightly in my basement.

I got this today and it is a definite two thumbs down. First, the blue on the gimmick does NOT match the blue on the box. It is not even close. How hard is it to match colors? Second, when you vanish the quarter (or whatever coin you use), the shadow form of the coin can easily be noticed behind the gimmick. Sorry, gents, just not ready for prime time. Save your money.

Seconding Jaizon. Just got this. The blue is too dark. I think you can get away with that... but you can still see ... what you shouldn't see.
it does NOT look ANYWHERE as good as the demos. Avoid |

They did approve my RMA. I'll be out shipping both ways, but this seems utterly useless in it's current form, so I'm gonna go for it and cut my losses.

It does, but as one can imagine... when you put something under the gimmick the gimmick moves and warps and the alignment appears is off a bit. That said, I could have worked longer to get the alignment right as the gimmick must be applied by you. It didn't seem worth the effort because as I said there is a natural shift, but it is the least of the issues with this thing atm.
In the video they mention they had trouble finding a printer that could do the white in the material... It would seem they never did find the right printer but settled with what they could come up with. I think the video demo looks good because your probably seeing one that Llyod made or had made as a one off, and I suspect what they were able to mass produce is just a far inferior item. |

Avoiding Ellusionist for not covering shipping in this situation.
How many magicians does it take to change a lightbulb? Regardless, for magicians darkness is a time for d'lite.

Got it a few weeks ago. The color not matching is the least important. When you apply the sticker it blends quite well so even if it’s not the real blue you won’t notice.
The biggest problem is that it doesn’t align!! There is no way to get perfect alignment because the sticker image is not 100% - the difference in size is quite noticeable and produces a visible drop shadow. Second issue, as pointed out already, is that the bottom area is not fully opaque, so you can easily see the coin. I won’t ask for a refund because Lloyd has come out with a clever method and I’ve found a couple of services online that can print the vinyl stickers properly. I have the Pantone codes for Bicycle blue and red decks so I made my images with the right specs and sent them to print (I don’t use those crap standard decks anyway). DM me for the image specs if you want to try yourselves. Cheers |

There is a version 2 on the site now that looks great but after this thread I’m unsure...

Is the new system any better?

It’s different. It uses the same principle, but this time applied to cards, which is a lot easier because:
1) No need to get the perfect matte because you don’t hide objects anymore 2) Playing cards have a more accurate print alignment and size than a box I don’t know if the quality is any better, I cannot find a good reason to get V2, especially after doing a while the V1 with my own stickers. I perform it from time to time for my friends, but it’s not a really strong effect because it screams gimmick too much and even with a well executed deck switch it leaves the audience the idea of fake box. Astonishment is no answer, with this effect is either the right answer or the wrong one, either way: not good. |
