Okay, Here goes. You make a switching envelope and have them seal the card in it while you are out of the room. Of course you return draw a picture of the force card and then have them remove and open the envelope. That of course switches in the force card.
As far as making sure they dont look at the card you just patter about being able know the impossible and you want a card selected that noone in the world could possibly know. You say that some people accuse you of "reading there physical or mental cues and such" so if they dont know the card there is no way anyone can know it. If you feel you must justify the envelope claim that this is an experment developed by the "The International Institute of Remote Viewing" to see if it is possible to do such. After writing that I thought I should mention why I choose the method I did.
1. Cards can be shuffled and even borrowed 2. There is no switch to worry about as the spectator switches the card for you. 3. There is never any hidden move or peeking of any sort, Hell its self working 4. The BS about remote viewing in my mind adds alot to the effect. Brent Braun http://www.braunmagic.com |

Lukes idea is great and only suffers from there being a lot of heat on the card during the switch. My suggestion would be the following:
On the bottom of the notepad cover half with double-stick tape. On the other half (where you are holding) is the card that will be switched in. Show your prediction. Have the spectator place their card face-down on the table without looking. Say "Now, neither I nor you know the card you selected from the deck. For the first time turn over your card." Just as they begin reaching for the card, throw the notepad down on top of it so that the sticky half contacts the card. This not only builds suspense but will also get a laugh. The patter would be something along the lines of "Wait!! How impressed would you be if my prediction matched?!?" The deed is done. Lift the notepad and push the changed-in card toward them. ~Josh L. |

Real quick-
The original method I mentioned met all the stipulations but I should mention that i've played with the handling further (YES, I went so far as to make out the "remnants" and try it out on two people). Before I hand the spectators the deck, I come out with some magic "pixie dust" (which is essentially confetti) and sprinkle it on the surface before beginning. Bizarre, I know. Anyway, this helps disguise the little piece of confetti/"remnant" that will come out of the deck with the selected card. ~Josh L. |
