Having an illusion that spells out the Bday child's name gets quite a reaction. I have had success with the marketed Spelling Bee, unless their name has more than 7 letters in it. I have also heard about a Birthday Card trick,(maybe by Danny Archer)? Anyone else use spellings?
Thanks. |

Heres a quick idea, you could go to like a party store and buy a bunch of banners, the ones were its actually cut outs of names and happy b-day etc. all strung together(buy a bunch of them) take all of them a part. reassmble them as the b-day childs name and keep a bunch of other letters loose......at the party put all the letters in a change bag, now you could do it as a miss made, spelling the name backwards etc. and finally pull it out the correct way, you could even give it to the b-day chils as these are pretty inexpensive.......now this may take a little work stringing the name together for each show but I think it would get a great reaction! (huh just thought of that right now not to shabby LOL)

Good idea.
Or dip the string in the bag full of loose letters and see what gets "magically hooked"... it's their name! Their name should also become the magic word for the day, right? |

I have used "Spelling Bee" at every birthday party show for over 15 years. I love getting the kids to all help in the effect and the outcome is a very special moment for the Bday child. By the way "Spelling Bee" was from Harry Allen and Irv Cook at Daytona Magic, Daytona Beach Fl.
Another great idea is to use Timothy Wenks "Punchline" You can't purchase it anymore but it is easy to make (PM me for directions). If you make one on your own you can make it any size. The effect for those who haven't seen it is this. You unfold an accordian pleated banner and show it to be blank. You then hold up a hole puncher in the air and make a few magical hole punches in the air, never touching the paper. When you unfold the paper again several while punched holes fall out and the paper is punched in the name of the birthday child, or the event sponser, os simply "The End". S. Patrick |

If you use the card duck, you can easily use an alphabet deck to have the duck spell out the child's name. Just an idea!
