A little more mellow than David Lee Roth...I think they do a nice job of capturing the vibe of my favorite Van Halen song and putting a very original and different spin on it.

"Torture doesn't work" lol
Guess they forgot to tell Bill Buckley.

...and in contrast, a heavy metal cover of Dire Straits that I thought I'd hate, but ended up loving. Great harmonizing vocals and a funny and oddly compelling video to go with it.

I'm very happy to report I think Del has turned the corner from her Pharyngitis. She's taking her meds expertly. Airway is much clearer, and she's firing on all cylinders again, including diving in to supper this evening and spending a good portion of her afternoon on 3 separate visits to her window seat to sit and to lay on her cushion in the sunshine. Tonight, she gave up her sick bed, resumed regular sleeping quarters and attended supper in the usual dining area. Smile Smile

Hey Laurie(!), thanks for putting up some of your songs!
,..and your 'likes'.
Takes some courage, to sit on a bar stool and sing. 👍

Yeah, Elvis. ahhh..

Critter,...some 20's tunes, tickle my heart, as well.
King Louis(!),..always a pleasure to hear. 💋

Here's a little 'shake, rattle, and roll',
with a 20's melody (😊),
my baby and I start our Show with,..
every now and then.
Kinda sets the pace,
for non-sence to come. 🙃

Sorry(!). No mic(!..!).
But it was as 'open' as can be! 🙂

I had a listen to Lead Belly singing "In the Pines" after listening to your video and every time I woke up last night, I heard, "In the Pines, In the Pines, Where the sun don't ever shine and you shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiver the whole night through. Smile

This part:

"The longest train I ever saw
Went down that Georgia line
The engine passed at six o'clock
And the cab passed by at nine"

though more realistic, sounds like the kind of lines my Dad used to quote, ala: "I fell from the floor to the gallery, and cracked all the front of my back." I know there was a whole genre of those. "It rained all night the day I left..."

Check out Ralph Stanley's version too. Haunting. Early blues and country shared a lot of standards.

There was also a line in this Loretta Lynn version I couldn't remember so was improvising at that part when I lost my chord progression for a moment.
I'll put up something more fun from karaoke soonish or laterish.

Again, a few mistakes in this one but it was emotional so I didn't want to do it again.

Thank you for sharing, critter. The host at one of the (other Smile ) open mics I attend often opens with that song.

I considered starting another thread, but I think this one will do. This is a bit of a "process" video. I have played this song a couple times at open mic. This was filmed before that. Smile

A bit of a crossover, as well, because the outfit I was wearing was used, likely the day this was recorded, to take some reference photos for this:
