Thanks for posting, critter. What's that instrument? Looks like some of the homemade style guitars out there but I see a brand on the headstock, I think. Nice location vid. Smile

Martin Backpacker. It's a regular guitar streamlined for easy portability. The strings are kind of close together for my big hands but it's fun to be able to just toss it in the back of the car.

On process, this is one I just started playing with. Trying to find the right groove.

Do you think this might benefit from another thread? The contrast of the sort of "before and after" might be clearer that way? I like looking at the big picture, generally, but I also like to "make the effect clear" as it were. Smile Regardless, I am starting a new thread along the lines of this one, but a little more formally, in Food for Thought if anyone's interested, magic allowed. Smile

Critter, do you perform with spoons? Have you seen the Spoon Lady?

That's fantastic, Critter. Prefer it to the original, and the original is pretty dang good.

Guess they forgot to tell Bill Buckley.

I just recently started learning because of her. I already lost a pair of spoons at a punk show last weekend 😂

Well, I tried them a little bit a long time ago, but now I want to pick up a pair (from the kitchen drawer- practical!) and learn seriously. I see she's got some teaching/demo vids on her channel and she said she learned a lot online from others herself. I need another pair of overalls now, too. Smile

My son has turned our joint into what he calls a Boogie-Woogie Shed and we not only have an open mic night there but also a Giraffe.

Yeah I've fiddled with them before but really seeing their possibilities now.
She has about six tutorial videos, two of which have technique and others on choosing, modifying.
There are two other spoon tutorials in my bluegrass playlist.

Well, I'm not going to open mic tonight and they closed the library at 6pm instead of 8- bad weather in Arnprior tonight. What is happening to Canadians? "It's SNOWING!" Smile

Well I wrote some lyrics today and intend to make the chords for it.
This venue looks interesting:

I'm very proud of this version. I think I finally got the sinister edge I've always felt would fit and make it my own interpretation.

I picked up some heavier spoons yesterday and what a difference it makes. Thinking I might play something at our open mic in the next few weeks. I've also been writing some music.

I don't get on here much anymore but THAT was well worth it!

There probably won't be actual open mics for a while so I'll share my Tom Petty cover here 😂
