There was once a competition in Israel, using eight 8s try to get to 1000 (anything allowed!!!)- some people sent hundreds of solutions - let's try to keep this thread alive by posting new solutions all the time...
I'll start with 888+88+8+8+8 = 1000 keep'em coming... Nir |

You forgot a closing bracket after the 5th 8 in your solution.

(((8/.8)*(8/8))^((8+8+8)/8))
For those who have trouble following this equation, it's simply 10 to the 3rd power, or 1000. (((8!)/(8-.8))/((8*.8)-.8))*(8/8) |

Here's one with only two operators (and some brackets)
(8888-888)/8 |

Here are two more
8!/(sqrt(8+8))* .8 / 8 - 8 + 8 -8 = 1000 replace the sqrt with the sign for square root you get 8! / 4 = 10080 / 10 = 1008 -8 + 8 - 8 =1000 (sqrt(sqrt(8+8))^ (8 + sqrt(sqrt(8+8)) -8 -8 -8 = 1000 that is basically 2^10 = 1024 - 8 -8 -8 =1000 I thought there would be much more by now... |
