I consider Bill to be one of magic's most creative thinkers in all of history at the top echelon of it's community.
Can someone please direct me to a source where I can research his work and life? Gracias amigos!~r2 |

I, too, am a fan of Bill Severn. I have several of his books and used to use some of his material in shows. Even though he wrote a lot of stuff for children specifically, it was still useful even for adult magicians, or at least for me. Have you had any luck finding resources on his life? Regards, Hushai

I agree with both of you guys...Mr. Severn's books were my first open door into the magic world via the public library. Good stuff in his books for magicians of all levels...
I too am curious to know more about him. |

I loved his books growing up. I just posted a topic on this, and some of his book titles. some of them can still be found in bookstores today!
The great trouble with magicians is the fact that they believe when they have bought a certain trick or piece of apparatus, and know the method or procedure, that they are full-fledged mystifiers. -- Harry Houdini

Other than what Bill wrote, I don't recall much else. I do have a huge batch of the books he published and am considering selling.
He and I had some good times, I used to get up near his home on business and would trek on to his place and hang out. As you know we marketed a trick togther, and published it in Tarbell 7. "The Severn/Biro Impromptu Rising Cards."

Did he pass away and head for greener hills?
It was actually one his early books that inspired me to look more closely at his life! I would love to purchase your Severn Books when the time comes? Thanks again to everyone for helping me learn more about Bill! Gracias Pete!~r2 |
