What have you seen in performance hypnosis that really amazed you? Was there an act, a performer or a participant that really "blew your mind" and sticks in your memory?

For me, I have to say that the first hypnosis act I saw (I don't remember the hypnotist name, I was pretty young) really sunk the hook in my imagination. There were a few "mind over matter" stunts he did with people that were in retrospect probably unsafe but to my young eye they were nothing short of Jedi level.

I know many of you here have seen and or performed countless shows. What sticks out in your memory as a big "WOW!!!" moment? Anybody care to share recollections?

Honestly, not much. I can't think of anything I've seen in person. A video done by Adam Weiss called A Tribute to Krabat was impressive to me due to the way he wove the story into his presentation and the seamless integration of hypnosis/suggestion with the scripting.

When I first started and was just trying anything that occurred to me I was sometimes amazed that something actually worked. Does that count?

Sure, that counts. I posted this question to have some fun, so anything that amazed is fair game.

When I was first starting out I did a post hypnotic suggestion that a friend would receive a text message on his phone, and whatever that message said would become, for a short time, true. Sent a message that his phone was a small cat, and he spent the next twenty minutes petting it.

Also, same guy, sent him on a mental journey to the Black Forest of Germany and watched him start shivering from the cold. Those two sessions were pretty close to each other.

Again - this was when I was first starting out and both didn't know the extent of the possibility of hypnosis, and also thought anything could be accomplished with it.

I think that is what has also really amazed me, is the misinformation and misbelief that most have towards hypnosis. Even those that think they know or want to be in the know are often way off and do not have a clue. When you have performed it regularly, nights or four or five times a week, for two or three decades you really see and understand it for what it really is.

I am also amazed by the sheer number of books out there by guys that also do not have a clue and the misinformation that exists because of this. They can't separate their opinion from fact or reality. Then the amount of newbiews that discover this info and falsely believe they are "studying hypnosis". Then there is the whole short-cut guys, these guys amaze me as well. Then, of course, there are the hypnotists that claim there is no such thing as hypnosis and they don't believe in it, yet then proceed to use hypnosis-methods and techniques to prove their non-belief or non-existence. The difference in hypnosis beliefs and perception from the UK to US.

It amazes me what magicians consider hypnosis to be, or what they accept as hypnosis (mostly from UK/European guys.

Also, the amount of guys that are not willing to get real professional training and believe they can learn by reading a few books, watching a couple of DVDs and worst of all watching Youtube (lol!). Yet claim they are "serious about learning hypnosis."

It amazes me how it is clearly expressed that this is a forum for entertainment hypnosis forum, yet members still will disregard the rules, policies and outlines and post about past life regression, hypnosis being real or not, hypnotherapy, yada, yada, yada. It amazes me how guys with little or no knowledge complain about those here that regularly and freely share based on reality and real-world experience. It amazes me too that they can complain how the information is presented when offered to them on a silver platter - yet refer to those as the trouble-makers (although the last guy to do this has been banned as we've all noticed).

Hypnotherapist that attempt to discredit stage hypnosis performers, when in reality we often make them a great deal of money and business after our showcase performances in front of hundreds or thousands of people (most non-believers when they walk in, and absolute true believers when they leave - you're welcome.

The amount of hypnotherapists that because they believe they "know hypnosis", falsely believe they can perform stage or group hypnosis.

"Street" hypnotists that believe they are really doing true hypnosis.

The lack of understanding and respect is what amazes me.

Anything else you wanna know?

The first hyp show I ever seen... 1977, it was a daytime school show at the high school I was attending... the male volunteers were told that there was not a number seven, the soon to be valedictorian of the graduating class was one of the volunteers.
Laughter and amazement when guys would count and there was no seven... the facilitator of the show reached the valedictorian and gave a mathematical question, what is 3+4. After a moment of him working out what the answer was and we the audience could see the confusion on his face because HE knew he knew the answer, it just wasn’t there... FINALY a smile crossed his face and I still remember his answer... 3+4 equals the square root of 49.

Just a week ago I performed at our States Fair and they also booked Tyzen for the week. He was absolutely amazing. His control, his stage presence and his ability to get his volunteers under quickly was has dropping. Inspirational just to watch another experienced performer "work".

It brings back memories. That when my friend was hypnotized, she was quite different from her usual expression.

As a hypnotist, I get totally amazed by my participants when they see or know real things that are supposed to be just a product of their unconscious mind.

For example, sometimes I make them speak alien language between each other and, sometimes, they understand themselves completely without using any sign language, with things as specific as: "he says he likes to go mountain biking"

Also, when I give them x-ray glasses and they seem to see through objects or clothes beyond coincidence, to be able to see what is really there.

Although, I heard the subject later, when I hypnotized him as becoming Batman, he seemed to be going to strangle me. Hypnotists should take care of translogic. haha

When I was first hypnotized, after having been told that I couldn't be, by a psychologist.
No matter how many times you say the wrong thing, it will NEVER be right.
