Hi Everyone,
Just want to say thanks to all the magi in this forum. I come here often and lurk around reading most the posts... it's a huge inspiration to me. I started street performing last summer so I'm still very much a noob. I can only work in the summer season - because the rest of the year I'm in the classroom. Also NYC gets pretty cold off season. I wanted to share my progress... I've come a long way since last summer. I no longer use a table. I feel much lighter without it. Here is a clip of my Finale... I'm using Gregory Wilson's Rubicon as my closer. I changed it by using a paper-bag for the end solve... I feel it adds a little more drama to the reveal. Any comments - positive or negative - are appreciated. Thanks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=akspfI3inaI |

Hi Dave,
For your final piece of magic I would make a bigger deal about it. Having an adult might play bigger and really talk up and about the cube. The match is good but then say something like I’ll take it a step further. I’m going to complete the entire puzzle by placing it It this bag. Have them examine the bag, show the cube not done then place it in the bag and show it completed. Make a huge deal about this. Because well it is kinda borders on a miracle. Some thing like this. The only other thing is I would smile more and be sincere with your money lines. Finally never or at least I never say anything about a dollar. You ask for a dollar you get a dollar. Just some thoughts, All the best Nickoli |

Money lines: I would not say if you think my show is worth ....
I would say if you liked my show, you have had fun or being amazed..... You are appealing to thier feelings they have not make a judgement about your show. |

Hi Dave,
i'm kinda stressed here, but I've gotta say something anyways... (I would have had NO chance in a Silent Film!) First, THANKS for sharing! That probably took more balls, then playing the Show! Thanks. And congradulations on your progress. You're on the right track, ..if you are to the point of 'trying',....doing it. Things will get steadily better,... altho,.. it ain't bad(!). Folks stood and watched! hey... What I wanted,..have to mention is: Do you really feel you need a mic and amp? I think some guy selling amps convinced you of that(!). On the stage you were playing there,,. hey,.. the folks were closer, ..more attentive(!), ..then in your classroom at work! I would bet. Some believe,.."it looks 'professional' ". Ha,...without an amp,.. it's more,...'spontanious'. More 'in the moment'. It's actually,..'closer'! ,..more personal. Look, coming to the Streets, you've come "off of the box", the stage; take the next step and come 'out of the box". Your Show will be more personal,.. and easier to carry, set-up,.. and run with... when the police come. 😊 Break a leg. Thanks for sharing!..! Read Nickoli's and Robert's advise(!),... ,...but, really,...you're doing öK! Things will roll into the places younneed them. Thanks. .....run. gallagher p.s.: What most don't realise, with an amp: altho it "isn't loud" in your sphere; that SAME "not loudness".. the same level of sound is 100 meters farther,.. THE SAME! yeah. It's called Sound Pressure. Measured in dBs. Nothing to do with 'loudness', but HOW FAR THE LEVEL OF SOUND CARRYS. Today, the smallest systems are 117 dB. Meaning: 117 meters farther ,...the distance of a football field., your sound level, will be the same. (albeit, in 'ideal' conditions.) That's far! Thanks for reading.. |

Thanks so much everyone! I'm going out today and I will be incorporating your comments. Smiling more is a biggie I think... I will be more conscience of that. And I see what you mean about playing the cube bigger... maybe having an adult instead. I will change the money line today and not mention a dollar or about it being "worth"... so we'll see how this affects the hats... that day actually was my most successful day - money wise - ever. I basically doubled my previous hats... which had to do with using a money-line. I was too chicken to use one before. It was amazing I started saying this show is worth a 5 or a 10 - and I stopped getting single dollar bills... like magic!
And Okay no amp today... if I get a sore throat... I know who to blame. Thanks to all who watched and commented. I appreciate your feedback so much. Dave |

Using a child in your show is good. Kids do not have money. Adults do. So entertain them the best as you can.

I find the week-days are kind of slow - so sometimes on Fridays I'll stop by - but not always. I usually start around 11 am and by 2 - 3 pm I'm completely spent and ready to head home. Yes please stop by - would be great to meet more busking magi. |

You ask for comments and feed back. I would like to say watching your clip gave me a lot. it was great to watch you perform.Pace and taking my time is something I have been working on so it was great to watch you slow timely pace roll out. However every second was filled and thought out.
Thank you so much sharing!
