A friend posted a video on Facebook from a party she attended. I am curious to learn more about the levitation that a magician performed for the group.

https://www.facebook.com/sharon.lee.5245......1361547/

The apparatus consisted of a "stand":
1) a small base of about 1 sf, and 4" high
2) a metal post (~2"OD, and about 3.5 feet long) coming up and out of the back end of the base
3) a ~decorative "X" going up from the front of the base to the same height of the post
4) a metal platform that rested on the tops of the post and the "X"
5) as far as I could tell, there was no cover around the stand - you could see every thing from front to back

A child, maybe 6 yrs old laid face down on the platform; the magician stood behind, but adjacent to this set up and then proceeded to gradually raise/levitate the child above the platform, and could reach forward and wave his arms between the child and the stand/platform.

This looked different than other similar levitations that I have seen, so I was curious about it. Since it seems to allow a fair'er view, but it appears that the magician needs to remain adjacent to the back of the stand.

Thanks;
John

Hi John -

I'm not able to watch that video on Facebook. Maybe the privacy settings aren't set to public, but just to friends.

Anyhow, is it like the illusion that Lou performs / discusses on this thread, which is a variation of the Rhino levitation?

http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......&forum=7

John Pizzi is making and selling one with a very streamlined base (even more so than Lou's). It's been discussed in the SME Talk Group on Facebook (photos, etc.). If you're in that Facebook group, do a search for the posts discussing it. Another performer using that version is Guy Copland (he's posted photos).

I contacted John Pizzi and he gave me permission to post a link:

John said that he has a busy performing schedule this summer, and might not be able to chime in right away.

Also, I've been told that it's for sale at Magic Live this week, at the Yurasitis Magic (Tom Yurasitis) booth.

It’s 3K. Includes an ATA case and usually ships anywhere in the US for under $100 Fed ex. And you can use an adult as well. Not just for kids but I prefer it for kids. However I’ve put many adults on there as well.

That's it! and the video I saw on Facbook seemed to be the same performer (and music).

But, whooa, what a price.

Thanks

Yes, it's more than a chair suspension. But it's also a different illusion.

It's about the same price as the Rhino Flight levitation, which was another one I mentioned above. (That's why the price was no surprise to me.)

By the way, the Gamolo is $3500.

The Suspension 3001 (Zaney Blaney) is $4750, before any cases or hoops.

The Ladder Levitation is $13K, before any cases or hoops.

P.S. Remember what they say, "You get what you pay for." If you try to cut corners by purchasing knock offs (from China, etc.), it's pretty safe to assume you are getting an inferior prop, which could malfunction or even hurt a child. Dynamike gave an example of that above.

John! Remember the TT with a suction cup on the end?! I fl**ted a light bulb at a ring meeting in New Orleans, one night, and, "caught" quite a few of them!

I see how each of the levitations work. But the big questions are:

Which one is most reliable?
Which one can be set up the quickest?
Which one is most durable?
Which ones comes with a warranty?
Which one of the tables look more plain and realistic?

For any questions you have about the "Up, Up, and Away" Levitation, I would recommend that you contact John Pizzi himself (who sells them). His contact info is on the webpage.
