Ah, haven't got that far yet! I ran out to get materials to make one before going any farther. I predict I'll be making many more of these.

The 32 page e-book that comes with the P.L.P (Perfect Laser Pendulum) includes routines from Richard Osterlind, David Thiel and myself. The PLP transforms the ancient device into a something suitable for larger audiences as well as allowing for some totally unique presentations. You can see it here: http://taylorimagineering.com/shop/perfect-laser-pendulum/

MAKING MENTALISM MORE IMPOSSIBLE

Just made my first multi-bob pendulum. Just starting to figure it out. Seems like it takes a little practice.

It's just a nice hardwood dowel (which I cut to size, sanded and oiled), some brass chain and the bobs are made from electro-plated quartz. I think I'll replace the bobs with different crystals, but these are what I have available for now.

Shadow, if you are on a budget, I'd send you Richard Webster's Pendulum Magic for Beginners. It is available for not much money at Amazon. It is all shut-eye writing, but has more good stuff for a mentalist than you might expect.

If you want to add a book from the mentalism community, I have TC Tahoe's book and it is excellent. I don't yet have any of David Thiel's books, but they are on the list to get in the future. These will all have routines and suggestions for the entertainer, which can be very helpful if you don't know what you want to do beyond "something with a pendulum."

Dr. Bill's (Mr. Cushman's) work on this subject is AMAZING.

In Dr. Bill's Bend, a multi phase routine is described that not only demostrates the power of the pendulum but lets the participant experience it for themselves.

From the book,

"First, you demonstrate what you can do with a pendulum. Second, you have
an audience member learn to do the same. And for the finale, you
exaggerate reality (lie ) by showing that these abilities we all have but
don’t use are capable of exerting forces beyond our knowledge. All you need
is the right key"

Imagine using a key and string to improvise a pendulum and then being able to not only move it with your mind but shows the participant, how to move it with theirs.
After which you do the impossible. Proving that with training and practice you mind can do great things.

Bill doesen't really explore the personal growth possibilities his routine was made for. But for me, it's a tool given to my audience they can use, to help tap into the unconscious mind, for problem solving.

In his tome on multibob, TRYBL Mr. Cushman & friends go into 35 effects the multibob. There are chapter on the different type of multbobs, How to make them and why? demonstrations for stage and more intimate venues. I can't imagine anyone needing any other work on the subject?

I just wanted to call attention to these works as Mr. Cushman (Bill) was kind enough to give me these when he heard about my interest in the subject and present day financial situation. For me the man is a true gentleman and extremely generous. He did't ask for a review and in fact discouraged my doing so asking that I simply concentrate on my circumstance and wishing that they would end successfully. I was then and remain touched. Thank you Bill. I don't often meet people such as you in life but hope that more of mankind, would follow your lead. God bless.
No matter how many times you say the wrong thing, it will NEVER be right.

If I'm not responding to you? It's because you're a TROLL!

Pendulums are great. They can be used in readings as well as in mentalism performances.

You can use it for any effect in which you need to divine an object.

I think there are some good routines in this ebook:

I guess you need to go to the site for the link to work. It is an ebook of routines available on that site.

Shadow, you can find both stage and close up in the material in TC Tahoe’s book and almost certainly in Thiel’s books. Dr Bill’s, as mentioned above, also qualifies. The Webster book is great for knowing what most of the new age folks believe about pendulums. Not so much for stage work.

Please do let us know what book you choose and what you think of it.

I choose Swinger's Party by TC Tahoe. It has more pages, more routines and more clear description.

Stuart Palm just published his. It's not a magic trick book, but a guide for anyone on how to use a pendulum.
It's for sale as pdf or to order a physical book.

Yes to Dr Bill's Multibob book ... very fine piece of work with fantastic contributions.
Jerome Finley has numerous wonderful pieces of pendulum work scattered through his works.
I have severals pieces in Mtangulizi from my signature and the Lybrary.
Luke Jermay has a lovely ESP card and pendulum piece in Jermay's Mind.
No pendulum thread would exclude Docc Hilford's: The Great Divide (?) is that name.
Mauricio Jaramillo uses it to great effect, should he ever get his book out.

Below is a resource for darker pendulums for mystery performers and those who have a flair for drama and storytelling.
There are many books on the subject but not a lot of variety for pendulums and cloths to choose from, that are not mass produced.

There was a great option some time ago for the darker pendulum options as well. I don't remember who put it out...Lebanon maybe? It was called Memento Mori and was spectacularly spooky.
