My niece's son is 12 and is very interested in close up magic! Oh, and they live in Vegas. So they asked ME (who lives in San Francisco) where to go to see a magic show! I tried looking online re Vegas, and mostly came up with the big shows. eg I suggested Mac King right away. But I was wondering if any of you fellow magicians know of some parlor type shows in Las Vegas that could entertain him and his family. Lynn

I advise calling one of the magic shops out there asking for recommendations:

Las Vegas Magic Shop: 702-471-7659

Houdini's Magic Shop: 702-798-4789

The Top Hat and Wand Magic Shoppe: 702-448-7191

It's been 15 years - but the Magic Shops in Las Vegas WERE very helpful- of course they DO want to sell something. Make sure its AGE appropriate.

These are all really good shows and feature smaller magic. P&T might have an illusion or two in the mix.

Mac King
Penn & Teller
Piff the Magic Dragon - I just saw this a few weeks ago. Hilarious!

Note that P&T and Piff might have some adult language in there, so depending on what your niece's family is like, that's a consideration.
For any show, they can look on Vegas.com for discounted tickets. There are also discount ticket brokers in town that can usually get lower-priced tickets the day of the show.
