Hi Guys,
Just wondering if any of you know about a gimmick, that I think is Alain Nu's, that allows a spoon to visibly bend. Heard about this somewhere, and it would be ideal to fit into my current metal bending routine. Any information would be great, Thanks, Simon |

If you are doing a metal bending act I dont suggest using any of thses gimmicks as I have never seen one that you can get "into easily" and get "rid" of.
I have seen Alain's spoon bending act (excellent by the way) and I don't believe he use this gimmick. That should say alot about it. If you dont already own "Psychokentic silverware" get it you can give the same illusions with no gimmicks to get "into" and "rid" of. Just an opinion, Brent Braun http://www.braunmagic.com |

Ditto from me; Alain uses no gimmicks to bend and twist spoons. He released some of his methods in an early set of lecture notes, but now I think he no longer sells those.
Get Banachek's video; he is incredible! Millard |

Alain does have a piece on the market called "Fender Bender", although I'm not sure if it's still readily available. It's similar to (and an earlier release than) Guy Bavli's gaff bend, and is based on Fred Bauman's "Metalogic". If you want, e-mail me privately and I can check with Alain and see if it's still available.
That said, I have to agree with the other guys and say that ungaffed is really the way to go. Most of what Alain does in his show is ungaffed, and it's mind blowing. As is Banachek's.
Note: I have PMs turned off; if you want to reach me, please e-mail Andy.MagicCafe@DucksEcho.com!

Andy,
Ungaffed?!?!?! But if it doesn't say "self working" and "no skill required", how will I ever be able to do it? 8-Þ PSIncerely Yours, Paul Alberstat |

Alain does sell Fender Bender. He only had 2 to sell at the last lecture I was at of his. Not sure how many he has in stock. In his hands it looks like a miracle. It was under $30 as I recall. Contact him via his web site to buy it:

You can wait about a month or so. I have a video coming out titled "The Triple Threat".
It has the most visual spoon bend ever devised! I call it the Optical Bend. It will be on the tape along with some other work of mine. Including the Master Link, (linking bands at the fignertips!) and 3-Fly Lite. (3 fly with only 3 coins. (Which uses my groundbreaking sleight, T.C.V.[Toss Catch Vanish]) The spoon bend is a killer, and No other bend comes close to looking as real as this does. Go to http://www.themagiccorner.com On the fornt page is a link titled "the Optical Bend". Click it and watch the bend yourself. It is in wmv format. Blurr

As for the gimmick Fender Bender is available through Alain's web site as John
said. I do alot of metal bending on my parlor show and I think ungaffed is the way to go for the real world performer. If you wish to do something for TV then I´d recomend some gimmicked effects to get more visual bending. I own Berry Price Spoon Bend, Guy Bavli Side Bend Spoon, Yuval Bending Fork and Kardini´s Bending Nail they are all great. |

Greetings,
Alain also sold a beast called "Bongo Bender" or some such in a very limited release. He really only released it to document that he had originated the method. He still uses it in his act today. However, I will tip Alain's greatest secret to metal-bending - one that really can be done by anyone for almost no money at all: Great misdirection Sam Haine

Jerry (Jecar),
NO!!!!!! My "Bending Nail" is different... NOT is the one with a sleeve that goes over the nail... ------------------------------------ The biggest DIFFERENCE of my creation system - and presented for me, since 1980 (YES: since 1980 !!!), in my shows of Mentalism in Brazil - about OTHERS similar effects are that IN THE END of the MY effect, immediately after the nail VISUAL BENDING * BOTH THE HANDS ARE COMPLETELY SEE EMPTY (!!!!!) * (without NONE "tiragens" as the Hold-outs, Topits, Pulls , Sleevings or Lappings !!!)... NOTHING !!! ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!! Sees my video DEMO in http://kardini2001.freeyellow.com/pregom.avi IMPORTANT: This video DEMO is NOT tricked and NOT have no edition! The magic/mentalism effect is ACCURATELY as it appears in the video (without none "secret discharge"...) Cheers of Brazil.

Yes I also have an original Ali Bongo Bender which also pre-dates Alain Nu's.
Now recently I saw what is being sold as Bongo Benders and while they are similar, the actual device is different from the original Ali Bongo one I have. So who knows? Perhaps we are talking about two different devices? -Alain Bellon |

(to Philemon and others friends)
YES !!! In current and PERFECT presentation of Mentalism ALWAYS the visual bending effect is VERY MORE SLOWER... It was quickly made for the video archive (in format AVI) to be small for correct speed of download Internet.

Thanks for your help guys. I do have psychokinetic silverware, and love it, but I was looking to put something else in aswell. I currently perform the tine bend, then the bend in a spectators hand, and then the subtelty Banachek uses to bend it further. I then break a fork,if I'm carrying them with me, which rounds it off nicely.
All the products mentioned, I was just wondering how much setup had to go into them, and if thats possible infront of the audience (ie under the table) Thanks for the help, Simon |
