For what it is, I like it. Looks great. But not $40 'great' for me.
...forever curious

Really don't understand how this is better than the pens on the market?

I don't have this but don't think the price is out of line for something you can always carry in your pocket and have some fun with at a moments notice like at a party/restaurant etc. In fact, I just talked myself into possibly getting this!

If you’re gonna use this, it’s worth it. Simple. And you will use this.

Also, if done right, it could be somewhat shocking at first, so, again, if done right, it will probably catch the viewer offguard. 2. As for it not being pointy,... magic is supposed to be different. It doesn't have to be a torn and restored effect to work. Putting your hand through a wall like a ghost would be pretty amazing, even though your hand isn't pointy either. 3. I think it looks very mysterious, almost ghostly. Again, I think the key is handing "it" out at the end for examination. I, for one, am looking forward to this. KJ |

It truly blows my mind at all the negative outlook on smooth. for sure, to each their own, but I don't see how this is not better than the pen. ok, you cant directly hand it out immediately but simply do a switch. we're magicians.
my advice would be to use your own bill and then hand out the bill while doing the switch, if you're so concerned; I'm not. people think its the bill. as for the "its obvious what's going on here" ... that's magician talk. we are so used to the pen which is exactly why some people are bumming on this. hope this helps the naysayers
Theres a new day tomorrow and it aint been touched yet.

I’m in the camp that thinks I may prefer the pen or Ignition over this Chapstick version. The keyword being THINKS.
Because this is one of those effects that I believe you really need to see it in person to make a true decision. This could look absolutely amazing in person. It could also be the type of effect that you find plays much better than expected. But I do realize that effects such as Ignition are a different effect altogether. I also think magicians get sucked into this “is it logical?” debate at times when it really isn’t an issue. I think it’s cool that a Chapstick melts thru the bill when logically you wouldn’t expect it to be able to. It must be magic. Rather than it being a choice to perform either one or the other (i.e. either a penetration OR a restoration) I’m contemplating possibly using them both one followed by the other. Not sure yet how that may play but it intrigued me enough to go ahead and order Smooth and see what I think of it in person. |

Perhaps a controversial opinion but I agree that the method is very obvious. Don't get me wrong, it's a brilliant effect from a psychological point of view, but it seems too simple for my tastes. I'd love to see some more live performances though!
Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it now. Boldness has genius, power, and magic at its core.

I think as bill penetration effect the heat will be on the chapstick because the bill obviously isn't harmed, on other hand as chapstick melting thru playing card it looks more visual but still there is something missing. I suggest to make imaginary hole on the playing card by putting black sticker on the playing card, do your melting phase , peel off the sticker , hand the card for examination , do the s****h and hand the chapstick out with a big smile . I think if it is like this plot it will make more sense and will give you strong misdirection to do your dirty work at the end.
I'm not planning to buy it because it is expensive, just I wanted to give my 2 cents.

My soon to be ex wife. She’s seriously dumb as a bag of fancy rocks. No really; she’s not smart at all. She dropped out of high school in 9th grade. But!!!! She’s an amazing person to perform magic for. Sometimes I was like, “that really fooled you”?? So yes, you have a valid point for sure. For my ex. I would take the “chapstick”. Rub it on the bill. Explain that due to the chemical infractional differences, the chapstick repels and destroys the convexual fibers of the bill. I just made up words. And yeah. Would work!!! Others. And I know most are smarter than her. It might not “fool” them. Since she left me and is in Florida. I will resort to other “test subjects” I will use this on all the neighborhood kiddos. Ages 7-12. I guarantee they will love this! |

Maxy, brilliant! You should ask for a cut of the proceeds as you have indeed made the effect better

For those that say the pens or key is better.
I see where you’re coming from. It makes zero sense to push chapstick through a bill. Not at all possible. I’ve ordered this. I’m very curious to see the reactions. I’m going to do a test, so to speak. Experiment if you will. I will perform it as the demo. Chapstick through bill. Done. Then..... I will perform it a different way. I’m still brainstorming it. But will do something like: - the black sticker/hole idea from above. - maybe do keymaster first. This will “justify” there is now a hole. - Maybe take a knife and scratch at the bill. Weakening the threads. - maybe use a laser pen and “laser” the bill to weaken it. Wait!!!!! Laser thru bill!!! New effect. 😂😂😂😂😂 - how about shooting cannonball Bob at it?? Stickman Bob. To “blast” a hole! Any other ideas to help make this more “real”? I think it’s going to go over well just as is. And I’m NOT trying to prove anyone wrong here. I’m genuinely curious now. I’m excited to see how this is going to play out. BTW Has anyone tried to actually put a pen through dollar? Or a key? It’s actually not easy. |
