Hi everyone, I have added a couple of extra moves to my multiplying bananas routine. I’m sure there is nothing new here but from my own very limited experience I’ve only seen the trick demonstrated using the basic handling. I just wanted to share in case it could be of interest to some🙂 I’m also open to any advice on how I can improve my routine or handling. My performance can be seen here: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=OZg-ypZhy8U

Very enjoyable. Thank you for sharing. I might have to dig my set out. Whose bananas did you use?

I did not like bananas when I was a young kid.
THEN, I learned, that I had to peel them first!

Looks nice to me. I like your new handling. I never seen it done that way before.
There is a jumbo banana made also. I advise you to include it in your act near the end. I advise you to include the magic word "Have a banana." Similar to "abracadabra." |

Very nice take on it. I liked it a lot, and with the timing, you can add as many banana jokes you want.

Alan Wong makes a great set. Do a search for "Sponge Bananas by Alan Wong". There are several dealers who sells them.

Some brands are too big unless you have big hands, some are made from foam, some are made from a vinyl/rubber type material, some spring up better than others, you may have to try out a few types till you find one that works for you. I get a lot of use with mine, in a show or with strolling. Get creative with incorporating them into the act.

Small sets of bananas are made also. A bunch of small ones can be used as a finale. https://www.google.com/search?q=small+sp......&bih=846

Nice Routine. I would have some background music playing. Are you performing in a Storage Facility?

I can tell you had fun creating this. I enjoyed watching it. I can easily picture kids screaming and pointing at the new hidden banana.
For young kids, I'd probably skip the burrito breakfast and potatoe potato. And little kids don't use the word hanky anymore. I think the scarf is too big. I am not sure if a smaller brown paper bag would be good or not. For the name of the trick, maybe say in a grandeous voice, the disappearing banana in a basket trick. I would emphasize you have just one banana at the beginning and that you are going to put it in your basket and make it disapppear. At the end , right before the count of 3, I would remind everyone that you promised everyone that you would make the "one" banana disappear. Alternatively, you could also say in the beginning you are going to make a banana split, but you need a bunch of bananas but you only have one. Then do your multiply routine. At the end when they disappeared, say the bananas split. The first time I saw it I thought of the old knock knock banana joke. With each knock knock a new banana appears. But at the end you would need a disappearing orange. If you can get a green or blue banana you can get an extra laugh saying that banana was green with envy or you had a sad banana, ect. When the banana went into the shirt, I was expecting it to come out of your ear. Similar to how people pull pens out of there noses. It seemed awkward in your shirt, but I loved the reveal. I was debating if the banana fits behind your ear like a pencil or if that's too unrealistic. I wouldnt mind seeing the banana pop up in more locations in addition to the ear and armpit. For the background music, maybe Yellow Mellow. I think the performance looked clean. I wasnt sure if it was sponge or shell at first. Bravo. |

Hi Tom, Many thanks for taking the time to review this and for sharing your ideas! I think we are kind of thinking the same! I actually did decide to drop the whole burrito breakfast line! I couldn’t quite get the banana reliably balanced on my ear especially with my glasses there but I was thinking along your lines and wanted to let you know that I did try it🙂 I also noticed that if I tried to load it balanced on my ear or resting on my shoulder the ends of the banana would quickly be seen and the surprise appearance lost. With more misdirection or pointing the banana to your knee after you point it to the elbow, it may work but that misdirection wouldn’t work too well on YouTube especially with repeated viewing! Many thanks for the ideas! John
