Was there a "non-Plus" version? How different is this from that version??
http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/10949 Ad copy: TWO amazing tricks with one killer gimmick Simpatico Plus by David Regal is the ultimate gimmicked card at any number product. You get TWO audience tested ways to amaze, both using the same gimmick. Effect 1: You show two spectators the cards, one person turns their head while the other selects a card and it is put back into the deck. The other person now takes the cards, deals down, puts one card aside, and you NEVER touch it. The spectator has their hand on top of the card they set aside while all of the other cards are shown. The first person names their selected card from the beginning of the trick and it is the card the second spectator dealt to. Effect 2: A selected card is mixed into the deck. The deck is spread and they name a number between 1 and 52. THEY count down to that position, THEY push a card aside. You show the card to the left and the card to the right and the card pushed aside is their card. UNBELIEVABLE! Both effects are easy to do and use a very practical and fair method. The spectator makes all of the important decision and the handling leaves no clues for the audience. Simpatico Plus is easily the most versatile and practical card at any number product. |

I'm sure that the part that was left out is, "After a process".

I think the performance looks very much like what I have published before, I am sure the method will be different tho - however I still like mine http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/5258

He also explains it in his 2012 Penguin Lecture. 1st time I saw the performance fooled me badly. Interesting to see the improvements of this Plus version.

Did the trailer show the best case scenario ? Is this similar in method to position impossible ?
What makes this different from the version David lectured ? Thanks in advance to anyone who chimes in |

I think this is the same effect as in the Penguin Lecture, but if you've seen that this is not a "best case" scenario, this is how the trick works.
I think the "Plus" tag is referring to the 2nd effect teached, the ACAAN one. |

I'm pretty sure there is no best case here, and that it just works?
I went on a cruise (mentioned before in other posts), and the magician on the cruise and I chatted and he even showed me some stuff. I'm pretty sure this was one of them, and it works every single time if I'm right. This seems to be slightly different handling maybe, and I'm not even sure a gimmick is needed once you know the how? I can't remember it exactly, but the performance and trick was very similar to this one, and there wasn't a gimmick needed in the one he showed me. |

I first learned about this from David's Penguin lecture and it is indeed a truly a fantastic effect. The deck is easy to construct (btw- no arts and crafts) and the trick is self-working. The only downside is that you are mostly limited to the two main effects unless you wanted to perform something using the four aces or a transposition type effect etc. Without revealing too much, only part of the deck is gaffed. I plan on buying the new plus version to learn his ACAAN handling because it looked really good and it is not included in the original lecture.

Thank you Magiguy for the reference to David Regals book Approaching Magic. We have so many hidden treasures in the books we might own already.

I read somewhere that the original Simpatico (found in his book Approaching Magic, p.265) is a newer version of David Regal's Self-Evident (found in his book Star Quality, and on his DVD Tricks! The Magic of David Regal).
So this trick has been in the works for a while. |

Here's the official trailer:
I'm very interested in the "Plus" part of this, which presumably refers to the additional ACAAN type routine that has been added to the first `simpatico' effect. Being familiar with the method of the original Simpatico (from Approaching Magic), I'm especially curious about the handling of the last part. Can the spectator genuinely make a free selection from 1-52 *after* the cards are spread, and they can count to this number? |

I would say that count from a different end on occasions or he reverses the way he spreads on occasions .
Also when he shows the cards to the man , he flashes the faces and then cuts at that point . This goes unnoticed with the timing and speed but I believe sets up the deck for an every other card reveal . Just my 2 cents from watching the trailer |

Is this not just a Svengali deck force then spread and count from left or right side , dependent on number being odd or even? Or have I not thought this through?
