Is there any kind of delay when the light comes on?
For example, can it slowly light up to full brightness or is it just light on, light off?

It does kind of ramp up when the bulb comes on but very quickly. There is no delay and no control of the speed.
Essentially it’s just on and off. But I’m fine with that for my intended uses. A delay would be great so when it comes on your hands are free and clear. An auto off would also be on my wishlist. |

Hi Guys:
Great to see a few more are playing with this now. I would agree that ideally it would be great if the remote was silent but this is a general issue with moat remote controlled props I own (and I have a number ). To be honest in actual performance this has not proven to be an issue for me. From a remote design perspective I give props to the builder. The remote is very nicely designed to be easily activated from the pocket or body placement. I wish my other remotes had this similar design. I have and will be using an ankle placement (comes with a convenient strap for this) for this effect which allows for total hands free operation. Also any sound the remote makes is partially muted by my sock and pant leg covering it. I would recommend this placement. As mentioned this is essentially real time activation of the bulb. For my uses I prefer to have this versus trying to time my actions or speaking to a delay. Have shown this several times now informally to great effect and will be using it formally in a presentation next week. Have tested the battery a bit as well. Tried leaving the bulb "0n" and after 24 hours it would still light up, at 48 hours it had discharged. Gives me some comfort in being able to set it well in advance of performing though. Cheers, John |

Ankle placement seems a little awkward but I'll give it a go.
Originally I had hoped to be able to perform this in my home more spontaneously if an opportunity presented itself and obviously I wouldn't want to have the remote strapped to my ankle all the time. But if the bulb only holds a charge for such a short time then that pretty much negates that idea anyway. But I can work something out I'm sure. I will certainly have a lot of fun with this bulb. Someone mentioned previously that no one would actually believe you could light the bulb using the power of your mind. That doesn't concern me because I don't intend for this to be a mind-blowing miracle. I almost see it more as a prank. That's why I love John's idea of using Alexa. Just the bewildered look on their faces as Alexa lights the bulb in their own hand is worth the price for me. My tech savvy friends will freak out because it just almost seems possible for a moment or two. Thanks again John for bringing this this cool gizmo to my attention. Sometimes you just gotta have fun. |

Bulb will hold a charge much longer in an off position. Prop is great for the Alexa style approach but would not rule out using it in other styles. Laymen are very intrigued by this bulb and I think with a little framing this could be a cool fooling piece I am having a lot of fun with it.
You can easily activate the remote from your pocket but I like the hands free approach from placing it on the ankle. Very easy to put on. I also use toe switches for some effects but prefer the ankle for ease of set up. Cheers |

Spent some time with the remote this morning and was able to do a relatively simple mod that helped silence the remote.

The charger I've been provided with doesn't fit the bulb. Anyone has the same problem?

Thanks for the pictures. I am curious if anyone has recorded this bulb in action?

Mine is still going strong... Really like this prop. Just re-watched The Prestige. Forgot that there is a scene in the movie where Tesla places a bulb in the magicians hand, then grabs thier other hand and the bulb lights up. I incorporated Tesla in a presentation I used a few weeks ago... Was cool to see this in the movie... I guess the scene was in my subconscious... |

Hi guys.
Looks great but I'm wondering how good or bad this bulb will appear lit in outside, sunny conditions? Cheers, Neil. |

Those are tough conditions for any light effect for sure. If you want, take a clear 40 watt light bulb outside and light it, that will give you a close approximation. I used it in a fully lit Hotel meeting room with no issues.

Cheers for that John 😊
Might wear very dark clothes to try enhance the bulb, but try a regular bulb first just to double check 😊 Kind regards, Neil. |
