Composition Deck Playing Cards - Limited Edition

100% custom playing cards inspired by classic composition books. Designed by James Howells & printed by The Expert Playing Card Company.



ABOUT THIS PROJECT...

The Composition Deck is a fun and quirky deck of playing cards featuring 100% custom artwork.
Conceived by Kevin Reylek and designed by James Howells, the Composition Deck is styled after the iconic composition books that so many of us used in our childhood and still use today for jotting down ideas.

DESIGN...

The back of the deck has a custom black & white scattered pattern that will look instantly familiar. The back is actually fully symmetrical, so it is great for card games & cardistry.



Each of the custom faces has a background of ruled lines, as if they were drawn in a real notebook. The designs emulate classic spot and court cards, but look as though they were simply sketched out during study hall.







The crown jewel of the deck is the tuck box. It has a side-opening construction and looks just like a miniature composition book!



PRINTING...

The deck will be printed by The Expert Playing Card Company on Classic Stock / Finish in their Taiwan factory - known for their excellent quality in terms of feel and handling.



The Composition Deck will be a one-time-ever print run. We will print just enough decks to cover our Kickstarter commitments plus a few extras and that is it!



STRETCH GOALS...

We have a few fun stretch goals in mind, which we will share when and if the campaign has reached the primary funding goal.



ADD-ONS...

If you would like to add-on additional decks, simply choose your base pledge and then add an additional $8 for each extra deck, no matter where you are located. We will also be using BackerKit to give additional time & flexibility to choose add-ons.



RISKS AND CHALLENGES...

At Penguin we have produced and shipped hundreds of products, including 5 successful Kickstarter campaigns. We have learned from each of our past campaigns and have a great understanding of each phase of the process. We have been in business for 15 years and have our own dedicated warehouse and shipping team, which means we have the resources and experience to ship your pledge rewards quickly, accurately, and with care.

We have worked with The Expert Playing Card CO (EPCC) on several decks in the past, so we expect no issues with the printing of the decks. Because the decks do not use any unusual materials or processes, the printing should be very straightforward.

The artwork is complete and has already been approved by EPCC for printing. Any unexpected problems will be dealt with swiftly and we will always provide progress updates to our backers.

We will be using BackerKit to facilitate the add-on and fulfillment process.
