I have to revisit your site, Wendy, I did drop by but didn't have much time to browse. Very nice.
It reminds me that I have to get off my butt and get mine up to speed. Nearly everything I've recorded so far though was done on a 4 track tape cassette device, not exactly modern day quality. I'm working on a basement room to be my studio of sorts, hopefully done by srpingtime. Computers make excellent digital recorders, I just wish I could afford ProTools, but CubaseSX is fine. I agree with you completely regarding LASIK, with my luck, the doc would sneeze just as he's cutting that corneal flap (shudder) Seriously though, the nice thing about CRT is that it's completely reversible. Can't say that about laser treatments. and I've adjusted my sig, thanks ! -Cyberhagen :bat:

Hey guys and gals. I decided to read and reread my magic books with a bit more emotion, and my mother who knows all of my tricks it would appear, after adjusting she said it seemed more magical. This is a lesson I have been trying to figure out for awhile lol, Derran Browns, " absolute magic " is a very good book
But my magic is set, no worries there. We may all have to sit at a round table and discuss the stage illusions when it comes down to it, but hopefully we won't have to worry about that for a little while. Um. my wardrobe I am still thinking. I don't know if I want to dress like I walked out of the 1930's or if I want to dress as though I came out of the 1630's or 1730's. I am afraid it would kill the mood if I came out dressed in a kings clothing, " purple or blue cape, gold chain buttons, ect." Where as if I were to come out in a frock coat, waist coat, dress shirt, trousers, ankle boots and a top hat ( optional I want your opinions on all of this.) It is hard for me to see what would appear to be acceptable for the audiance, Luckily I have all my friends here to help me. have I thanked you guys latley for taking the time out to help me?

I guess you need to think about the idea that you may have been turned ages ago, but it is the current day, do you want to be "noticed" in a big way (full historical dress?) ir in a more subtle way, perhaps a loose shirt, and a throat lace (was that a spot of dried blood on that lace?) no matter, with all the rest of your clothes more current and "everday/night"
If you have not tried the locations for clothes, James Townsend and sons, the post was on page one for them, and the folks at Atlanta Cutlery also have lots of ren/borderline goth stuff as well, coats, shirts etc. Theother issue is what is the venue you will be performing in. Some locations will simply call for the more histoprical clothing, others would leave you looking very out of place, and though your skills might well be perfect, getting it to not look too "silly" might be a hard one. REgardless, you seem to be doing your homework and making your decisions based on the aspects YOU want to partray and work with, which is as it really should be! Only you will be able to judge the reactions you get form your audiences and be able to determine what about the entire package might need to be adjusted. Just a side thought? do you wear gloves? dress gloves, leather gloves, if so when do you take them off? after all the mortals should not feel your lack of body heat too soon now..... nor should they see that one particular fingernail...very sharp eh! Best of luck! k

There is an old effect called Walking Away from your Shadow (or something like that). It enables the person to walk away from his shadow cast on a white screen. PM me for more information if you need it.
It will be interesting to see where you can perform as the vampire character. If your portrayal is weak, you will be perceived as a poor actor. If it is strong, you may scare or intimidate the audience (no referrals from this job). Corporate gigs (where there is a lot of money) probably will not go to someone as strange as a vampire. I understand that even Max Maven's character was too weird for some corporate work. The corporate workers that I know project a really clean-cut image, even if they are doing psychic or mentalism material.

Bill, Kay you are both 100% correct, who/where could a vampire work. He could only work his own shows. How ever if no one has heard of me, then only a few people will come, and I will be set back however much it cost for the show.
Perhaps sudlty? pale/bright ( oxymoron I know ) green eyes, small fangs hidden under my lip, my long hair, my dress. Wait until they know me a bit better? I am not sure, this is going to be one of the biggest obsticals in the way of becoming a vampire lol. Thank you both for bringing that to my attention.

One big ability of the vampire I haven't heard discussed in here yet is the hypnotic power they are reputed to exert over their victims, donors and, sometimes, civilians that they just want to have forget about them.
Several ideas come to mind on that bit, especially as I am a pro stage hypnotist - Sankey's Memory Lapse from 22 Blows to the Head (required viewing for any serious mentalist and much of it is easily adapted to a bizarrists style), psychokinetic key (done in the participant's hand) and any ideomotor test from any basic hypnosis book - falling backwards test, robbing an arm of its strength and even Holey Moley (another Sankey effect - using steel washers, yet!) could be adapted to a vampire scenario. Or: try this: Vlad's Splinter (from my 1994 lecture notes) - short description, without tipping the goods: Psychic explains about Vlad the Impaler nailing the hats onto the heads of the villagers who didn't tip them as he passed by (true story). While talking, take out an old babushka (headscarf) and open it, showing an old splinter of wood, about 3" long, the pointy end darkened by something. Laying across the babushka, the Vampire says that this is a splinter from one of the spikes that Vklad used to nail the hats on the victim's heads. Slowly, the splinter stands up on its pointy end and then, drops back to the babushka, quiescent. Those of you who know Al Baker's Erectile Bill will already know the method. And I can say from experience, this plays exceptionally well in a darkened room - but beware the candle light! All I ask is that you remember where you got the idea if you use it and let me know how well it plays for you! If you need extra help - and there are some subtle tweaks to this effect - PM me and I will do what I can to help. Lee Darrow, C.H.

Continuing on with the influencing people theme that Lee started, Luke Jermay's effects could be quite easily adapted to a vampire theme. He has an effect where three different spectators are shown a sheet of paper with a single short word written on it, and each spectator sees a different word. In another effect, the spectator forgets a playing card he was just shown. In yet another effect, the lines on a spectator's palms twist and form shapes; again controlling the perception of the vict--er, spectator.
And then you have For Andruzzi. Not only can you stop your own pulse at will, but you can stop the *audience's* pulses, too. Luke Jermay also has an effect where a rose visibly wilts and decays. This would fit right in with a vampire sucking the life force out of things, no? 7 Deceptions and Building Blocks are the two books these effects I mention come from. Worth checking out. |

In which of Luke's books is the Rose effect. It could fit very well with something that I am working on.
Thanks, Dave |

Building blocks, if you get it I would apreciate a review of the effect.

Woah! all of the following very good idea's! Now the hypnosis, Is that what Don did on mad mad house? I have been searching for that effect like crazy, I have done it once but I think that was assisted unintentinol.
But the whilting rose, I have been trying to devise that. It would appear most effects have been made lol. All very good Ideas! Oh, also dose anyone know how I would go about folding an origami bird, then being able to pull it out imprompt ( or not ) and have it float over my shoulder around my back, and then back into my hand? I am not asking for exposure if it is a marketed effect, just a direction to the destination. I have this brilliant Idea. Fold several of them, have them all like some magicians fold the little pearl animals. I am going to fold Grey Cranes, if some one ask to see magic I will, smile reach into my coat pull one out, "I have to give it a little life." blow in the bottom of it, then smiling pull its tale to make it's wings flap. Then get a glassy look in my eye as I slowly let it go and it remains in flight, then the Crane flys around my head and lands in my hand. I then would like to be able to give it out to a spectator. My idea. Which actually I am still working on. It would be nice if I knew what the ITR's are like. But I am just getting into that so in due time. . . I am a vampire I have all the time in the world. Unless someone decides to be cruel and stabs me with a stake ----------------------------- EDIT ----------------------------- Effect: Feeling dehiderated, fed-up, hungry, ect.: I take a royal blue velvet bag out of my coat pocket, reach into it with my index and thumb to retreive a bright red light, I then toss it into my other hand quickly closing it, then apperently "bloom from a depressed state" opening my hand to see the bright red marble has turned to a dull crystal like marble. Why: A vampire has to eat, to sustain himself, but he really cannot go munching on whoever he pleases. So, I have capsules I use. Where: Street effect, Midperformance. My Method. The bag is filled with red marbles, you only one crystal clear marble in the middle of the red. When you pull the bag you get a d'light ( I knew they would come in handy! ) you reach in and pull the dlight out with the clear marble. You then transfer it to your oppisite hand, play it up, and woahla. If someone cares to look in your bag let them. The rest of the marbles are red, if she/he asks why they are not as red as the one I pulled my response is simply, " the blood flows thinker and quicker when scared" Lean in and whisper, " Now isn't that correct?" Smile flashing the fangs. ----------------------------------------------- Anyone have any suggestions to make the effect easier? or actually anything you want to critize is fine to, That is a learning process too. If you wish I will retype this when I am more cohearint.

Great idea on the marbles. See if you can use crystals. They should be readily available, even cheap or fake ones at craft stores. "Blood crystals".

Mayo,
Those are great ideas! Keep up that creativity! About the ITRs, basically they keep tension on the IT.

Closest thing to the bird I could think of, is the hummingbird card effect.
- or whatever the original name is, if that's a magicmakers counterfeit. But that has to spin, of course. - or maybe the dancing hank ? That's a couple hundred bucks for the one I'm thinking of though.

Thank you Myst, The dancing hank I have seen that every where. Dose anyone know if it is worth the money? I would like a list of the possable effects you could perform with it. I may actually look into it in the future though. Not now however because I am still working on paying my wardrobe, tables, mirror's, books, chairs, ect.
I am going to be broke for awhile
