Kieron demonstrated this for a small group of us yesterday evening. The Trachtenberg story gives an excellent intellectual and emotional hook for the routine, though the methods themselves have nothing to do with Trachtenberg. The books (two sizes) are reasonably priced and nicely produced using rewritable card. They should last a long time.
All three effects are strong and each is independent, so you can mix and match as you wish. The Day for Any Date procedure is straightforward but perhaps a little clunky. The speed maths is a nice adaptation of the classic mental logs, has multiple variations, and the reading of the total is well disguised. The Magic Square is very cleverly designed to conceal the cribs in plain sight (I didn't spot them). It is almost automatic and gives nicely balanced squares. This isn't something I will use myself because I already have a nice set of mental logs and prefer my own propless methods for DFAD and Magic Square. But those new to these kinds of mathematical effects who want something practically self-working, and who don't mind carrying around the book, this is ideal. |

Thanks Michael and Magicmann, I'm really please you like this.
Size was asked for in another post, they are UK dimensions. The pocket size book it very easy to carry around being A6 105 x 148mm plus binding edge and can be used for close up or smaller groups. The larger A4 210 x 297mm plus binding is pack flat 3 effects in one so very compact for the intended use and especially good for those who travel with props or just take carry on luggage.

Trachenberg is great.
I think JoelDickinson nails it on the head: Quote:
On Nov 29, 2018, JoelDickinson wrote: I recently saw the routine and I wholeheartedly agree. It is a humble piece. Let me explain: I must admit that I have avoided routines that show off the performer as a mathematical acrobat. I find it a bit too crude for my own tastes. However, this routine is not (despite what they say) about showing yourself off as a mathematical genius. Sure, you can do it, but that's not how and what makes this routine stand out and make it great. The way I see it is that this three stage routine should be told as a love story to Trachenberg, with focus on this amazing man and his work. Through this love story the magic grows bit by bit and finishes with a magical square that is amazingly balanced. When Kieron performed it he even goes further with the routine, and adds a little extra after the third stage, I think this is a great idea and can further emphasize the emotional connection. -- That is the point: The emotional connection. (As Joel said.) So, this is the first piece in this gnere I would consider performing. It is easy to do, with everything right there in front of you. In other words: the method is clever and lets you focus on the performance. The way I would perform it is to put the focus on Trachenberg and the story, rather than mental gymnasics of the form "look at how great I am". This focus away from the performers superiority is something very unusual in the genre, it is a humble piece that lets you focus on the story and the performance. If this is something you're looking for to add to your reportoire, I think it performs well from close up to stage. It's all up to you, how you perform it, and how you focus on the story. Well worth the buy. /Stromberg |

I love the creative thinking Kieron brings to his magic. It stirs creativity in me.
This effect doesn't work for me but kudos for him releasing it. In the right hands this is a signature piece that would make you stand out from others in your market. Magic is stronger as an art when pieces like this are released. Not everyone will be doing it so if it suits you it helps seperate you and you stand out. Great way to take "boring numbers " and make it meaningful. |

My parcel has arrived with the close up and stage version. The books look great and they’re top quality. I am very impressed with the packaging and the practicality. The packaging doubles up as a pouch to protect the props. Very clever and smart thinking.
I am yet to watch the instructional video as I’m currently working but my initial impressions are great. More details coming soon. Joel

I've worked as a mathematics teacher for many years in another part of my life, and probably because of that I have an inbuilt dislike of most maths tricks. However, partly because of my background I often get into discussing ideas with other mentalists. It takes something good in that area to catch my interest. I haven't been involved in developing the final product but Kieron has shared bits of his presentation with me over its development and I could see how he'd added some of his famous left field thinking to create something good. Now that I've seen where it got to in the end, it's clear that he's produced a great piece of engaging theatre that focuses on the human interest story and the power of the human brain as well as the human spirit instead of the maths. Some people have an inbuilt dislike of maths, which even as a maths teacher I've seen and understood. However, it would be a shame to overlook this on that basis - it's a smart, engaging 3 phase routine and I think Kieron's done a great job with it.

Received this the other day , got round to watching this yesterday and it’s wonderful.
It’s really well made and will last forever if looked after and for the price it’s a bargain. The routines and back story really work well together and the routines built in are fantastic , most will know some of the effects but ilike the ms it’s simplified so you can concentrate on performance. You can tell Kieron and mark have developed this over 2 years . 5 stars for me Carl |

Thanks Carl- Feedback has been amazing on this release, we did wonder how people would take to it as we have never ventured down this path with previous releases.
I have never had any inclination to do any maths or numbers based routines but this just shows anyone (including me who is very dyslexic) can easily entertain with this. We really have put a lot of thought into this to make it workable, easy to do and practical. We are both very proud of how we have tweaked the principles to make them easier to perform and give them meaning. The books look great and are very durable, many that have seen them think they are maths books which is how they are supposed to look. If you have any doubt over this just take the magic square section. You have 6 magic squares at your disposal hidden in plain sight, they could have been a release on their own but you also have the other 3 phases as well which gives exceptional value even though I say so myself, each can be performed stand alone or in a full routine. Thanks again Carl and for taking time to post. We have an offer running on both books and a twin pack deal as well https://www.saturnmagic.co.uk/saturn-mag......oni.html

Hey Keiron: Just curious. You pronounce Trachtenberg throughout the trailer as "Trackenberg". Is this deliberate?
