This is somewhat magical in that it is a magical miracle when someone is admitted. My daughter was admitted to Stanford! The acceptance rate for Stanford is the lowest in the country (4.4%), lower than Harvard (4.7%). Every year it gets harder. In the 1980s, Stanford and Harvard had around a 40% admission rate (far fewer applicants for nearly the same number of spots).
It was an amazing accomplishment, especially given than she did it almost entirely on her own. My wife and I have no idea about this sort of thing, so we were of little help. However, if anyone out there is interested in getting into one of the elite schools or has a child that is interested, I'd be happy to share how she did it. KJ |

Congratulations!
Over the next 4 years I still hope that USC kills Stanford. Nothing personal. |

Congratulations, good for her. What does she plan to study?

She has been focused on child development psychology for several years. I think one of the reasons she got into Stanford is she has been working on ways to develop more successful kids for a few years now and wrote a book on the subject. She wants to be the next Dr Spock (For those of you who remember who he was, the child development guy, not to be confused with the Star Trek guy).
