It’s been said that another referee reached for his flag but this referee waved him off. Some even say it is a video of it. Not sure about that oh.
But as much talk as this has caused they really have no choice but to fire the referee, or make a serious rule change, to restore some trust in the game in this area, But New Orleans being a smaller market it is not likely to happen. It will be interesting to see what Goodell will say in his speech Wednesday. Oh well at least they will be crowned the Shoulda Bowl Champions. Tom

It has been said by who? What a ridiculous claim. Which ref should be fired? Fired for missing a single call? Fir getting ONE thing wrong? Look at all the things you got wrong in this thread alone!
Are people not allowed to make mistakes? How silly.

Danny, should mistakes be corrected?
Or is ok to keep making the same mistake? Tom

How often is this mistake made Tom? How can you eliminate human error?
Or will you be quiet if we just change outcomes you don't like? How about we just let robots play the games and computers ref them? Will that help you? No human error then right?

Danny this is the First time THIS mistake was made. You do understand this one will go
down in history as the worst. Replays won't let people forget it and that's why it needs to be addressed by the NFL. True the fine was an admission that it was wrong, but fans need hope that it will be looked into and that hopefully it will not happen again. Saying oh it happens all the time does nothing to restore trust in the agame. Tom

I’ve heard there’s a TV show in Italy that is a panel of three people (if I remember it was a former soccer player, a former soccer referee, and a porn star) who would review and discuss all the calls from the weeks matches...

On Jan 26, 2019, TomBoleware wrote: So Tom how do you plan to get ZERO mistakes? It already sounds like the system in place has a pretty low number of mistakes that is fairly close to zero. Your demand for zero mistakes is ridiculous at best. Nobody has lost trust in the game because of one bad call no matter how it affects any one team. Because REASONABLE people understand mistakes happen by human beings. For some reason this doesn't compute in your mind. How long do you want the game to go? Can the NFL POSSIBLY review EVERY PLAY? Because don't forget that this was a NON-CALL, so there was technically nothing to review. You may as well eliminate the ref on the field and just go with 100% video review. Then you STILL have as Ron pointed out a human being looking at video. Do they review it from every angle just like we get the benefit of now? HUNDREDS of angles to look at? There was a questionable call during the Bears game this year that might have cost them the game. CERTAINLY they would have won, and naturally they would have gone to and won the Super Bowl! You admit it is not a huge problem, therefore "trust" is not an issue in the league. Yea it bites for one team. Life goes on and it just is not a huge deal in the end. Oh and did anyone from the NFL ever show up as to the government demand you mentioned? This is just not as big a deal as you want to pretend it is. IF 24 of the 32 teams decide it is a big deal something will be done. ONE coach who was involved on the competition committee is not going to cut it. He has 23 other teams to convince.

Just realize that in no other arena is someone filmed at their job and viewed live by millions of people who will then scrutinize their work in slow motion replay over and over. Asking for perfection is unrealistic. We can still trust the game with the knowledge that occasional honest mistakes will be made. Ron PS - I thought I made a mistake once, but I was wrong.

I agree replacing this referee wouldn’t change the game. But it would show that the NFL was serious about getting it right, especially in a championship game. This has never happened before.
Sure I feel for the referee but that’s not the point. What’s wrong with making a play like this reviewable? They review other plays all during the game. Why not review one when the coach demands it, or what’s wrong with looking up on the big screen and thinking maybe I need to take a closer look at this. Why be in a rush to jump to the next play? The NFL TV Ratings have been declining at a very fast pace the past few years. They have been swamped with problems. This just adds to the list. This is not the first time fans have been complaining about the officials and leadership in the NFL. Jerry Jones, Cowboys owner, and others wasn’t too happy about extending the Goodell contract last time. How he handles this may be not be forgotten by some. All I’m saying is the NFL needs to respond to this game, but so far not a word. Tom

THEY HAVE RESPONDED! You admit that yourself. You have some agenda against Goodell so fine.
But to fire a ref for one mistake is silly policy. So EVERY play Tom or the fans disagree with needs to be reviewed? Where does it stop Tom? Your are putting forth feelings as opposed to an actual policy. The policy can not be looking up at the big screen and think "Oh we need to look at that again". How is that a policy Tom? GAME LENGTH is one of the things that ran fans from the game. The complaints of too long of a game was huge. So now you want to review every play Tom disagrees with. What is wrong with that? https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2016/n......ng-speed But no Tom is unhappy with one mistake so games have to be much much longer to make certain every non call is reviewable. What do you think those red flags the coaches have are for Tom? They are for challenging calls.

No they are useless if you can’t use it except on certain plays. Tom

Not useless Tom. Useful for certain things. This way the game doesn't take forever just because you have a question.
My lord Tom give it up. Get over it.
