Ok so first of all, I’m a new user to the Café so if I’m not posting this in the right place, please forgive me.
Anyways, here is my question. I recently got a copy of the old Stigmata dvd by Wayne Houchin and the concept is really intriguing to me. Does anyone know where I can find some similar effects where you can make a prediction appear on your arm? Thanks. Oh yeah and btw, I just had an idea, what if you combined Tempus by Lloyd Barnes and Stigmata... Or is Stigmata the only trick out there (besides the ashes on arm tricks) where you can make predictions appear on your arm? |

Stigmata was based around Banachek's "Blood Writing" I believe (there's an interview with Banachek on the DVD), so there's that one. Rich Ferguson has an effect called "Tagged" where a word appears on someone's arm - the DVD for that is a kind of crash course on a variety of methods for forcing words. Matt Sconce did "Note" which was a similar method but different enough to warrant its own release - the gimmick for that one is much easier to make but will not last nearly as long as the one for Tagged.
"Bare" by the Other Brothers (I think that's the right name) is a reveal on a hand instead of the arm. I don't know much about that one. That's what comes to mind off the top of my head. Don't combine it with Tempus. That would just muddy the waters of the effect.

Wasn’t Stigmata and Blood Writing created independently, though?

One of the oldest effects in the book is rubbing ashes over your arm and making a word, symbol, or most anything that can be drawn appear on your arm. Done well, this can really be impactful.
I also like Bruised a lot https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54HDKXt3_o0 and have managed to get some of those "NO WAY," (spectator runs away), responses with it. Lastly, look into the many blister effects out there. They can be very powerful presented correctly as an experience, and not a stunt.
Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.

You need to know how to f**ce a card, and the bruises are fake tattoos, so they could last a night if you a restaurant performer for instance. You could even have a different bruise in different locations.
I tell my spectator to think of their card as they hold my arm, and try to transfer their thought through my body. I then comment that they may have squeezed to hard and left a bruise. I roll up my sleeve, and boom! Killer!
