This looks good http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/11422. I wonder if it has been taught anywhere before though.

Well I think it's hard to say it's looks good since the demo doesn't show us anything. But Cody is a top notch creator/performer so looking forward to some reviews....

Ok, I watched this last night. Every bit as good as you would think it should be. Cody teaches a lot of things like his mercury card fold, a great new force, his ambitious card routine and of course the feature item Card to Card Box.

A great routine as well to practice all the above techniques.

Highly recommended for any card worker. 5 Stars!!

Is this different to Steve Bedwell's wonderful Parked Card?

I've spent far more and gotten much less. Cody's a worker and his routines show it. The force he explains is solid and I'd not seen it before. Cody teaches you his full routine that leads up to his card to box ending. The routine reminds me of watching Toi box in that I felt like I was privileged to see a full time pro explaining a routine they have clearly used and worked through in their paid gigs. His ambitious routine reminds me of Ammar's from ETMCM V2, from the get ready, to the addition move, to the set up for the ending, while using nothing harder than a DL. The psychology built into the card to mouth ending is inspired and effective, as is Cody's tip for the finish of CTM. I've always struggled with the MCF (and I haven't tried Cody's yet), but his approach makes sense, provides great cover, seems quite fair, and allows one to perhaps have a better shot at folding the card straight. I am hopeful. There is also a spot in his routine where one can practice the pass without fear of getting caught.

In terms of the card box gimmick, I can say it's slightly bold, but entirely motivated, expertly routined and beautifully covered. The moves are open, fair and allow for the box to be freely shown as the actual signed card falls out. The price of that moment is that the card box is not examinable. That being said, the box can be casually set down as the card is being unfolded. As that moment sinks in, add a card, put the cards back in the box, then back in your pocket and you are ready to go again. A non-issue in my book and a insignificant price to pay for being able to dump out the signed card.

This should not be out of the range of a beginner, though it will take some dedicated practice to get the whole routine down. Anyone with decent basic card skills should be able to perform this with little difficulty.

The routine leading up to the card in card box is a solid worker, but for those who already have a routine and just want to add this card to box finish or have it as an option, the download gives great value for the money. Just the ending would be worth $13, throw in the force and MCF option and it's well worth it.

You would pay this much just to learn Cody's adaptation of this force. I'm on the fence with using the word "bold". I admit it comes to mind, but it is wiped away with the very clean looking handling. Brilliant!

As you would expect from Cody Fisher, this is a well thought out, road tested routine. As others have pointed out, you will learn new slights, a great Mercury Card Fold, a full ambitious card routine and of course, Cody's excellent method for signed card to card box. Highly recommended, 5 stars!

Thanks for all the feedback my fellow magi! So glad you are all liking this. When I was asked to do a download, I made the decision that this would not be a simple trick download or merely an idea with a basic presentation. I really wanted this to feel more like a mini-lecture (or sampler) rather than just the card box idea. From the blank card idea, the card force, the card fold, and the loading of the card into the box...I sincerely hope that at least one of those ideas is of value to someone!

I have two more Penguin downloads that I shot when I was there...I don't know release dates...but one is my take on the diary trick (A completely self-working worker!)...And the other one is my very very unique (and highly VISUAL) take on the Red Hot Momma trick (aka Chicago Opener). While the Red Hot Momma trick was shot in a bar (close up situation)...that is not really my normal performing environment...this trick is actually a part of my current stand up show!

Anyway, I am always excited when I have the opportunity to share stuff that I actually use!

Thanks again,
Cody

Wondering if this would be a good use for a mentalism switch / prediction i.e. confabulation type thing. I guess if a mercury folded card can get in there then so can anything similar. Index for instance - name a card - it's in the box.

Check out “Kaning Mercury” by John Anders in Pabular page 1102 (Vol 7, nr 9) for a slightly different handling of the box

I’m guessing this has the box load from an awesome routine in Cody’s book where a signed card ends up under the box, on top of the box and then folded up in the box. Cody’s material is very good.

Ixnay66,

Yes you are correct...This idea has appeared in a few sets of lecture notes over the years as it is always something I do in my lectures.
