Oh I forgot, in Dana's situation Apple does make a Lightning cable adapter for $9 so you can plug in a 3.5 mm cable on late model iPhones without a headphone jack, that's the other option if you elect to put the phone over near the sound system.

Well I just got back from my friendly local Apple store (that I've never been inside before). The person I spoke to (who I consider to be reasonably knowledgeable) had never heard of the Bluetooth AVRCP profile, and she informed me that neither the "Now Playing" watch app nor the "Go Button" iPhone app was a product of or in any way supported by Apple, and for further information I should contact the relevant third-party developers. Now the only reason I bring this up is that this use of Apple products is certainly OK but it's not like something like Apple Play where Apple themselves has a commitment to make sure it works for the end user, and if for any reason (and I'm not saying I know there IS one, I certainly hope not) you have any trouble getting this arrangement to work, you're totally at the mercy of the relevant app developers and the degree to which they decide to support you (and in turn also the degree of support THEY get from their respective Apple iOS and watch OS teams). I'm not trying to knock it or anything, this is just what life is like out on the bleeding edge of technology, good luck!

Jeffl, so you are saying that Apple watch cannot sink with the I phone that has I Tunes on it. I seem to have seen a commercial that the watch can play music from the I phone for joggers and such. Why wouldn't they make the watch compatible with their I phone app. Seem strange to me. Are you also saying that I phone does not have a plug to connect to a speaker system. I thought you could connect speakers to the phone so you could play music at your parties you throw. Again, the commercials are lying.

So the watch is only good for getting false body readings and telling time. Maybe that is why they dropped the price.

The iPhone models 7 and higher don't have a "headphone jack" inside the phone and Apple has claimed that they "ran out of room inside the unit" (while Samsung and others selling competitive models seemed to have no problems), the suspicion was they really wanted to sell their fancy new earbuds which use this "multiple Bluetooth pairing" technology (since there are two earbuds per phone). I don't have one of their watches but I think they either sync music with the iPhone or just control what's playing. They seem to keep adding more features to every new watch release like LTE (the ability to make calls) so I guess in the future the watch might just be an alternative package for the iPhone, except maybe it will be a health monitor too.

Now Apple does a good job supporting their software on their hardware, and generally they're also pretty good supporting the software of their app vendors, and if they can't accommodate them they won't be allowed to put their apps on the App Store anymore. This "Go Button" is an anomaly because it's a non-Apple app talking to another non-Apple app over a protocol Apple doesn't "forbid" but doesn't really support either. I'm not an Apple watch expert or owner so I'll recuse myself and let others speak about that topic since no doubt they know more than I do.

You are making this way too complicated. This is the tech equivalent of drama queen. LOL! Smile I do it. It works. Everything performs as expected, every time. Go Button is intended to work with iPhone. Everything else is an Apple function. I can't believe with all this knowledge you didn't know there was an adaptor cord for the iPhone.

This guy keeps going on with these nonsensical essays about nothing he even knows about. These items work, if he's not putting a system together, please stop with this crazy tech talk. OMG!

I'm sorry I just don't get it (I'm starting to agree with Bill here), this is all just massive overkill. I did a little more research about that AVRCP profile and it turns out it's just the piece that allows you to wear earbuds and a mic for jogging or in the car, then you can skip ahead one track or back up, and you can enable play or interrupt it and take a phone call, THAT'S ALL IT IS (well there's no display to show you the name of the cut that's playing but that should be no mystery, YOU'RE HEARING IT PLAYING.) Now there's a little inconsistency when it comes to whether a particular music player allows itself to be controlled by this profile EVEN THOUGH THE PHONE AND OS SUPPORT IT, for example Spotify and Amazon music support it, VLC and Winamp do not. But if you want to control the music playing on your phone (which can certainly be what's coming out of your speakers) all you need is to select a music player that works with this profile, create a playlist for your show and get a Bluetooth headphone that supports it, you can easily get one for $15 (NAXA NE-950). Now no I guess it doesn't "inherently" crossfade between cuts and so forth but you can easily do that in Audacity ahead of time, it's a little something called "planning". Why you NEED an iPhone XS for $1K and an Apple watch for $500 and put in special apps to support them in order to do this is...well you're right in one sense, it IS way beyond me!!!

Sorry I opened this thread! LOL

If you happen to have a I phone and a I phone watch, then this is cool. I tunes does the trick. I know my set list by heart, so they are already in the correct order. The plug in where you charge it has a converter that will plug into anything you want. I've noticed dance teachers at my daughter dance school using this system to teach the kids dance routines. I have seen people use the watch and I phone for Private time share parties as well..

Thanks guys..

I'm out on this one..
