Borrow a dollar bill. Perform a switch. Act as if you're going to divine their bill's serial number. Instead you start drawing: first, a gun; then, a door; a beehive, a gate, sticks.
The spectator thinks you're wacky as she looks at the serial number. You say your powers are only transmitted in images and, yes, it's coming to you now... gun: "maybe" stands for the number one ["yes, yes"]; door for four; hive for five; gate, eight; sticks, six. She looks at the serial number and that's exactly what it is. What it is, is a pnemonic device used openly and—I hope—more appealing way than reading off numbers. Thanks |

Interesting. Why are you receiving the thoughts as words that sound like the numbers? Why not just get the numbers in a dramatic contacting way like placing your palms on theirs?

First off, I meant use a pnemonic device, a memory aid for recalling a serial number, as found in a Karl Fulves book on magic with numbers.
Second, it's more interesting for the spectator to see an image, a drawing...rather than a recitation or scribbling of numbers. It also creates a novel ending: if you just start listing the serial numbers, it soon becomes apparent to the spectator that somehow you've got them—and the surprise is over. By sketching a series of drawings, they're puzzled until you indicate that, hey, each drawing means a number. But act puzzled with them: "I don't know. I just felt like I had to draw these...Wait. 'Gun' rhymes with one. Is there a 'one' in your serial number?" That sort of thing. Maybe it's too farfetched. I don't know. fib |

Have just come up with an idea that may work for you fib. Let me think about it a bit more and I will PM it to you. It fits with what you are doing there and will hopefully make sense when I get it into words...lol
Will get it over to you tomorrow or Monday as it is 2 am here in the UK. |

Fib,
It's always wise to get a working model of success. How are professionals doing the dollar bill thing?? This gives you a basis to see how far to lift the bar: http://www.craigkarges.com/video.html http://www.timconover.com/video.html Check out how the best in the world do this. Very straightforward and quick and to the point because attention span is diminishing. The average plebe does not want to decipher a code before getting to the whole point of the exercise. Think Uri Geller. You are pretending to be psychic. Very quick and to the point is the objective. Cheers Tom |

I agree! Way too complicated..!!! I think that the problem lies for on the believability of the whole thing. Why would you get images? When you are trying to find numbers... But if it works for you! Then it's perfect. What came to mind is possibly some other kind of riddle! Something that you can decode more interestingly than "one rhymes with gun"! or something that the spectator can decode, even better!

Good thoughts! Receiving impressions symbolically seems to impress the folks as more possible than just getting a flash of, or string of accurate numbers.
Often you can 'receive' and describe entire items, messages, situations etc, ONLY thru symbolic impressions..letting the spectator make the connections that make sense to them, and supposedly making no sense to the psychic. This makes the 'gestalt' (sp?) a thing of the whole thing being betsween the 'forces' and the client, with the performer being almost a supernumarary (sp) If bringing in numbers thru symbols is the way you work, then that's the way you work...thats the way the psychic impressons work for you. Different than all the other mentalists...who's making the rules here? YOU are. The trick am what you say it am. Good thinking.
