When I was living in Sn Diego prior to my recent military relocation to the God forasken U.S. Territory of Guam I was a monthly visitor to Brad Burt's and I have to say folks.....you don't what you got til it's gone! Granted I'm a loyal purchaser from Hocus Pocus Online Magic Shop, but there's nothing like walking in to the ol' brick and mortar of Brad Burt's and yacking with David Eldridge about bizarre magic, mentalism or having him demo the latest and greatest (who if I'm not mistaken no longer resides in CA). Now I'm stuck in Guam with no brick and morttar shops, no local gatherings just The Magic Café, Hocus Pocus and inflated shipping costs....just hate being charged $9.95 for Prority shipping to get the package and note the actual shipping charges were $3.65! Anyhow....locate your local dealer and support our art, besides you'll be surprised what gems you might find on a dusty shelf or molded box in a backroom! :0)

Now, before, you say I'm looking for too good a deal from someone trying to run a profitable business, let me give you an example. At a shop in one town we travelled through, I looked at a currently market effect, a one-trick DVD. The list price is $20. But the shop prices all its DVD's at $35, no matter how many effects are on the DVD! I am more than willing to pay list for hands-on magic shopping. But I don't want to pay 75% more for the privilege! |

Gee Dave...
Isn't Penguin/Sankey already doing that?

Steve-
About a week ago I was able to talk to one of David's business partners about the venture they are taking on. He explained what they are doing and how the business will develop. I can honestly say that it will be nothing like penguin. They have some brilliant people doing the marketing, the talent searching, and already have some very big name magicians signed on. If the business develops the way they hope, it has great potential. I won't disclose any details becuase David should be the one to do that as soon the project is ready to launch. Actually, because of the marketing on this project, David probably won't even need to make any announcement when they start running. I was hoping that David's plan meant the opening of another brick and mortar shop in San Diego, but I'm also excited about their plan. Plus, with the opening of The Trick Shop in Temecula , I should be taken care of for my local needs. |
